Are you installing from a CD? If its from the CD then i'd suggest that its a miniscule scratch on your cd or a smare. The CDROM drive is obviously picking up/reading the CD because the installation starts but when trying to copy the files from the CD to your hard drive its finding an error when trying to copy a particular sector of your CD. What i'd suggest you do is run a scandisk on the CD you're trying to install and see if that picks up any faults. If it doesn't then you will know that it may not be the CD thats at fault. Being a Systems Engineer by trade its better to check the physical connection before the logical. Step 1 : Check the CD for scratches and smares. If you find a smare or a little scratch, give it a wash in luke warm soapy water with a clothe that is new (to avoid scratching the cd more). Then run the installation again. Step 2 : If that fails, then run scan disk on the CD and see if it picks up any cluster/sector errors. Step 3 : If that fails also, then it could be a faulty disk or faulty application on the cd itself. If you are installing via a program thats been downloaded, It may be that either the download was corrupt or theirs a conflict between a piece of hard ware or software already runnning on your computer. I hope this helps
thanks for the help, but it was a download, and i have re downloaded it like 4 times and it still doesnt work
Have you tried downloading it from different locations? Or did you attempt to download it from the same place 4 times? If it still doesnt work after downloading it from an alternative source, give me a private message and i'll send you a download (maybe not the express edition) but it'll do the job. What Operating system are you trying to use it on, and what updates do you have installed? If you are trying to install on XP with SP2 you shouldn't be having any problems unless its a conflict with the MSI update that you get usually automatically with the SP2 upgrade. P.S... I done a bit of a search for you on the exact topic and I found this url that it may pay for you to have a look at. It'll explain how to debug your setup/installation to find the exact nature of the fault. I would be able to do it, but because the installation isnt on my machine , it'll be hard for me to find the fault. Check it out and tell me if it was of any help to you. http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/ ... 46328.aspx Cheers
