    Why?

    Why sony in particular?

They are cheap but their sound quality isn't as good as what pioneer puts out. Are you just going off looks?

pioneer is the overal best, i have never had any problems with pioneer headunits.
im not very fond on pioneer amps though, subs are ok.
but panasonic isnt as bad as people think, i bought a really good unit for a good price and it was amazing. subs and amps are rubish.

rockford fosgate, well, units are really good but as is quality, but price is very high.
subs and amps pack alotof power. truly breathtaking.

I went out and brought a $1300 pioneer head unit (2nd from top of the line) and surely it would have been able to power front components and 6'9s straight off the head unit and power and 1300w 12' sub with a 600w amp.

But no...The head unit started powering on and off, wouldn't even make it passed 30 on the volume dial without cutting out. I thought it could have been a lack of amperage to the head unit so i increased the power wire size..but the problem persisted. So it came down to "Calling it a faulty head unit" and sent it away. Sent it away last Monday so should get it back in the next week or 2. Hopefully its stuffed and I get a brand new one :D

It seemed to start really screwing up when I updated from Sony Xplode setup to Pioneer. Kept the Sony 12' sub and Amp but replaced the Sony 6'9s and front components with pioneer. Next step in the process will be to rid myself of the Sony Xplode sub and Amp and go to Rockford.... Probably rattle all the plastic covers in my boot off...especially having a Honda Integra which fall to bits regardless of Bass haha.

    Yep sony = Sh&t
Pioneer = Good head units (give out pretty close to crystal clear signal)
Pioneer Amps and Subs = Stronger than the sony ones in every shape and form...A 12 inch 1300W Sub sony equals the specs of a 12 inch 800W - 1000W pioneer sub for the same price or near the same price. Pioneer is good for its value. But hey , if you're loaded like Donald Trump..Go hard and go rockford, nothings more superior.

indeed i agree there is nothing more superior to rockford fosgate, lat year i had 2x 2000watt subs with 2 rockford amps and it was amazing sound, but not a brand that i recomend to first tie sound buyers, it it extreme in all cases, including the money.
