    My boyfriend recently got his license. Well he will be in a week or two.
    But the thing is, he already picked out a car. Just a general one, it's not too nice and what not. But he's just using it for generic reasons. The car is a Honda DS 2 door Coupe year 2OO6 with 43k km. He's never been in a crash or anything before pretty much. Basically he got his learners, never drove, never got ticket and all that.

    But..here's the gay part..when we entered stuff on some online insurance calculation thing, they said it was guna cost a whopping AT LEAST 8 grand..and he tried putting the 4 door one {Sedan} and it's 7 grand.

    We were telling people about it and they certainly said it was ridiculous..we're all noobs at this kinda shxt. We put deposite on the car already, but we're afraid at this moment we are going to consider not getting it.

    This is one of the reasons that contribute to high civic insurance..im sure..

    {And trust me...we have been bugging the sales a great deal too..we went twice, each time ebing ther for more than 2 hrs talking..first time we felt bad walking out without anything..and he was soo happy he made business last weekend with the recession and everything}

    So yeah...just because it's a 2 door + he is a new driver, does it make sense to you guys that it's 8 grand a year? Does anyone have much experience with this? Any info appreciated.

    I don't think it should be THAT much! I mean in the US, my insurance is about 1 grand every 6 months. But I have a horrible drivers record and a newer car. I've never heard of 8 grand, I don't know if you have but you should check around everywhere. Or sometimes the little internet calculators are just completely wrong. I'd call some insurance company and ask them some rates.
