Well, headphones that come with an MP3 player usually are really cheap...like when I sleep with them on, they screw up, tangle, and/or lose sound in one speaker. Do you guys have any headphones or ways to prevent this? They are pretty cheap ones though :(.

get a piece of electrical tape and wrap around the base(the side where you plug in the headphones) to strengthen it, all my ipod headphones broke but lasted longer using that technique.

I bought a pair of skullcandy ink'd headphones for like $20. They're more durable, more comfortable, and give better sound quality than the standard ones that come with mp3 players.

My only experience with cheap headphones are the iPod earbuds which work fine for me...In general, earbuds don't fit my ears very well, so I've never bothered to look for alternatives...several years ago I got the Bose QuietComfort 2 outside ear noise cancellation headphones for xmas and those rock (but are very expensive) and they're big and bulky compared to headphones that you might be looking for...I like big headphones though :p

Now, I'm trying not to get into the habit of listening to it at night since they always break. I listen to my stereo...but I guess I'll just get like an Bose alarm clock that also plays music from your MP3 player.

Anybody have something that doesn't bother you when you are sleeping, but doesn't break?

Nice, philips makes these too. They have an increase in "base", keeps sound from coming in, so everything around you will be muffled. Mines is like 15$

skull candy headphones arent too bad but I didnt find them as comfortable when I was wearing em while taking a nap or just chillin and lying down...

I usually have a pair of the sound reflector headphones (cover entire ear with nice cushion :)) to use if im plugged into my laptop or on the train

and a pair of my ipod headphones for regular use...for me theres no better headphones than the ipod ones..except the speakers seem to bust quite often:(

I'm going to gravedig this because I passionately hate bose.
    Buy Other Sound Equipment

Ask anyone who knows anything about Bose products. They're awful. They have good marketing because of affiliations with Apple, and all of these major sports stadiums use Bose.

In truth, they're awful for the price.

Like someone said, you're better off with a set of skullcandy Ink'd buds. I got a pair for christmas, they run about 20 bucks.

I disagree, but my situation is kind of different. I love my bose because well...I'm a drummer. The sound quality + noise insulation = ultimate win.

Skullcandy is another meh audio brand, you can do much better for the price.

If you want pretty cheap, and very high quality headphones i'd suggest
V-Moda Vibe- Wonderful headphones on the cheap, with awesome bass.
JVC Marshmallow - Freakishly durable little IEMs that can be purchased for like 10$ on ebay. Great SQ being another plus, especially since they cost so little

I've been doing lots of audio research lately, dropped several hundred dollars on a pair of Shure SE530 IEMS and 230$ on Yuin OK1. Both are amazing, and i'm glad I quit buying the cheap disposable headphones.

Anyways, if you're at all interested in audio, or looking for decent headphones a good forum is http://head-fi.org

Most manufactured earbuds are not intended to last forever, if you buy a real pair of full-sized headphones you'll be much less likely to see any breakage. Sound quality is usually greatly improved, but these are more expensive.

Oh, and sleeping with headphones in probably isn't a good idea. When sound goes out in one ear, it's mostly because of cable breakage. A couple of sharp bends in one area can ruin them for good. Sleeping probably puts lots of pressure on certain points of the cable.
