I noticed on neofriends there has been some posts about spammers and how to deal with them. Some would like more features while others are perfectly fine with the current system. I think reporting is a good thing but what exactly does it do? It informs a mod about a spammer and then the mod chooses the punishment which could be from losing cash points to being banned. This is a good system but will take time for the mods to do. I am for the system to stop pointless spamming but is there a way to have a improved report system or are there others ways that could be more useful? Do you have a better idea? Now don't mention it here because that should go into the suggestion forum if you think the idea is good enough but if you just want to defend the fact that you want it changed then by all means let your ideas flow.

reporting is probably the best way. "spam" is quite arbitrary, because nowadays most people post a bit more than "lol" and "yeah". i can't think of any effective system that would be able to catch spammers.

also, imo, spamming isnt extremely widespread on these forums, so its not too big of a problem to me

Spam isnt too much of an issue.
mods deal with reports soon as they get free time.
    and then decide issues.

only way to improve this is for eveyrone member to be able to decide a punishement there and then.
    which wud get SERIOUSLY abused.

The only spam that comes to the forums is usually from brand new members who are trying to get cash points quickly.
But sooner or later they figure it out that they should write a bit more and they post properly.
I am new and yes I probably spammed a bit till I figured out that if I should say something it should be constructive and helpful.
I say this system is perfectly fine.

to be honest, i do post a lot knowing i get the forum cash. i'm sure that 90% of the people posting are thinking that too

but really, i have fun while posting so after the first few days of the "OMG MORE PTS PLZ" kind of attitude, i forget about the points and they just add up on their own. now i feel like im just adding to the community and having a good time talking to everyone

I don't see so many spammers as I do, MAJOR grave-digging.

It seems lately that there has just been a ton of newbies going around gravedigging topics from like, beginning to mid August.
But, -shrug-, I dunno the mods usually do a good job of telling them to stfu or banning them, so I guess it's really not that big of a deal.

I dont know about other mods but heres my system

    A new member gravdigs
I edit the post with a warning
    he does it again
    i sent him a PM with rules/and a warning
    he does it again
i send an official warning and a PM saying once more he's got 3day suspension and remove cash points
he does it again he's suspended, again upon returning = permanant ban.

Most memebers see the gravedigs and as no edits/bans they think its not been dealt with.
Most of it is kept behind the scenes. and each mod has their own system.
If i come on in morning and a user has gravedigged 50posts, then ill perma ban him straight away :p thats the fun bit of the job :D

Wow.. I gotta be careful with gravedigging, then.. maybe.
I have some problem reading some of the fonts, though. XD
They're about 7 pixels large or something..

Haha, well you can change font sizes on your browser, if you can't read it you can enlarge the font size. That would probably be a good idea to avoid grave-digging, if not being able to read the dates is your only problem.

Yeah.. I'd do that, but I kinda have macros that are dependent on the size of the font...
