..I don't know what made me think of this. But I did.. Now a very famous Australian Icon = Vegemite. It's hard to explain what it tastes like, but I for one LOVE IT. Actually alot of people that do like it only have it in small amounts due to its very strong flavour.. but I usually pack it on If you're not sure what it is, this is what it looks like: I usually put more than this on.. I guess this is the average amount used? You usually eat Vegemite on Toast... or bread. Vegemite and Cheese = pretty tasty too!! I've also used it before to make gravy for my dog (sounds weird I know.. but a vet told me its good!!.. What you do is take a teaspoon of Vegemite, put it in a cup of boiling water and dissolve it to a liquid. Then pour it over dog biscuits and yea.. They love it. Obviously let it cool down before giving it to your dog!!) So umm yea.. Please vote on the poll! And post any opinions/questions here. I'm sure the aussies here can answer them!! Oh and its sort of an acquired taste.. If you're not brought up on it.. you probably won't like it. Also, it has its own website!! http://www.vegemite.com.au
Haven't tried it myself, but I've seen it in the grocery store a couple of times. Gotta say that the plain packaging doesn't really catch my interest.
Our neighbors had cousins over from Australia once and they gave us a jar of the stuff. Personally I thought it was ok with some butter and toast but everyone else who tried it thought it was disgusting. It's way to salty to eat to much of it though.
I have family in Australia who brought some over and I tried it. I didn't like it at all I agree with arcrutus, it was really salty. My parents, however, enjoyed it. We tried it on toast but I think ill stick with butter
I would not survive without my vegemite on toast and coffee before work most days! I don't like Vegemite i love it
I live in New Zealand and people are always debating over whether or not Vegemite is better or Marmite is better. Although everyone has tried it, I seem to be the only exception. ^^;; When I first tasted it though, it tasted really weird...in my opinion. Don't know how to describe the taste, it's really unique. xD
I live in Australia and I've tried it a few times.. don't like it at all.. I bring it to my mouth expecting it to taste like Nutella or something because of the colour, but then I get this gross bitter taste eugh lol.
