Yes, use spandex shorts, if your embarrassed use regular gym shorts on top, and your legs will be killing you the next day, I try that often

Yes, Yoga is very effective for me and i am do three days in a week. It is depend on person that how you are doing yoga. Always take deep breath as much as possible when you are doing yoga and focus only on your breathing. Peaceful place is necessary for this. Avoid eating before doing yoga.

Work for what? Yoga helps diminish symptoms of depression, and I'm currently participating in a study to see if it helps with social phobia lmao. Helps relax your mind and body, strengthen, other stuff too idk. So yea it's cool
I like yoga for fitness, but I personally don't have the mental patience to practice it. I get bored in poses. I would much rather do something fast paced.
