    Yeah...I enjoy trips, but i'm also a very cynical person; no matter how many times i've been fine at a hotel. I just get paranoid when travelling outside of the city. It's always like..should I leave my valuables in the hotel, or take them with me? Like a laptop and such. Worst thing is...the hotel burns down..someone goes through all the floors and rob people >_> {Go ahead..laugh at me xD}

    BUT!

If you leave it in the car while you go muse around some strange land, there are possibilities of car theft.

There's no winning with me!! Haha!
    {I'm actually not this uptight...I usually end up leaving it at the hotel in the end...lemme know if you have funnier thoughts =P}
There's also the "idea" and "assumption" that people go to hotels to have sex or something. Gross!!

Lol, that's an hotel's main purpose xD Or almost anyway. I'm not much of an hotel person but now that you mention it, it'd probably gross me a lil bit to sleep in a bed where strangers have had sex before on. Then again I'm easilly grossed.. Kinda like http://www.youtube.com/communitychannel ... -Lt26vRcUA

    Haha..

I've never actually thought about it before.. I always tuck the valuable out of sight when I stay in hotels.... Cleaning persons are not trustworthy :p I've seen too many movies.

As for in the car.. I try to avoid leaving valuables in there full stop... even at home.

"There's also the "idea" and "assumption" that people go to hotels to have sex or something. Gross!!"

That actually happens though... Just don't think where the bed you'll be sleeping on MAY have been... Or the kitchen bench... or the chair you sit in.. or the desk you're typing at... It's a scary thought.. avoid thinking :p (Try to match/beat )

Aaaanyway, I've actually had a bad experience in a hotel... JUST fallen asleep... The sirens start going off.. fire alarms.. so i threw some pants on so I could go out in the street without being arrested :p I think they were just boxer shorts or something.. but anyway... standing outside.. took 30mintes for the firies to arrive.... THERE WASN'T EVEN A FIRE!!

Baaad baad night... Least I wasn't the only one wearing hardly anything... or in their PJ's :p

Was funny too because it was a busy street, with a lot of clubs on it :p It was not too long after closing time, so a few people still hanging around. Lucky it was warm...

It's totally normal to have that bit of paranoia, i'm a paranoid person myself. I always have articles of clothing/a towel in my car with which I cover valuables. So yeah, totally normal thought and you aren't alone! :D

EDITEDIT; OH GOD DON'T THINK OF SEX IN HOTELS IT IS NOT AN ASSUMPTION IT HAPPENS UGH FHAKL;FH;FHL;DKFH;HA;LKHFD

Yes, I normally tuck the valuables out of sight. One person tried to hot wire my car, but it was too old. Heh heh.

As for hotels, haven't stayed in a hotel for a long time! If it was something small, I'd keep it in my pocket. If it was something like a laptop, I doubt the leaning lady would steal that! It'd be a bit obvious.
Keep it at the bottom of your luggage if that's a worry.

If the hotel is in the states I generally don't worry about it. But if I'm traveling abroad I will lock as much as I can in a safe.

Yes, people have had sex in those hotel beds more times than you can count. Hundreds. Thousands. But it's less likely in room with more than one bed! Also, I always put laptops/valuables/etc. zipped up in my suitcase, just in case. No reason to tempt the maids, and although I doubt they'd take it, if I actually lost something I'd hate to accidentally blame them.

My friends went to Puerto Rico last summer, and they rented a safe to put all their valuables in. After a day out of tanning and fun, they came back to their hotel room to see that the whole safe had been stolen. :( I mean, they were being cheap by not staying at one of the nicer resorts, but still.

So yeah, I'm paranoid. I carry the most important stuff around with me everywhere. I don't really care about laptops and stuff, but jewelry and sentimental crap stays with me. Not to mention my SS card.

I'm not the tidiest person, in fact, I'm a slob. I don't usually pack my stuffs neatly after arriving in my hotel room. My clothes were thrown everywhere, the bedsheet came off the bed after one night of sleep and I need 30 minutes every morning to search for my cellphone or wallet.

During one trip, I did the same thing in a fancy hotel. When I came back to my room, I was shocked to find out my room was spotless and tidy. On the table, I found a note saying "Your room is a mess. I folded your clothes and put them nicely in the first drawer. Your charger, PSP and DS are in the second drawer. The food you bought is in the fridge. Signed, Patricia the cleaning lady." I was impressed. Usually a cleaning lady only do your bed and change your towel but this girl actually folded my undies.

LOL That is awesome!! I usually leave the do not disturb sign on my door all day because I'd rather not take the chance of having them come in and clean and steal something XD. Unless we're staying for longer than a night.. then I try to put anything I want to keep in the bottom of my luggage or keep it with me in my purse. :)

Oh jeez, now you guys make me wonder if I should bring anything nice to Chicago on my class trip D: I hadn't thought about it before.... but now....

I dunno. I never worried about it, I'd leave my laptop out in the open and such. We've seldom stayed for more than one night though... and we're going to be 4..? nights in Chicago. I've already been forbidden to bring my laptop or my good camera, and the teacher chaperons don't recommend bringing anything of value (or carrying a purse). That's mostly because we're such small-town hicks... easy marks.

    OMG Ang! :O
I thought you were just gonna say that there rooms were broken into...assuming they had a safe I thought they WERE safe. Good thing to know when I decide where Im going this summer!! Maybe I should just steer clear of Puerto Rico all together lol.

Back to hotels... YUCK. As much as you rely on them when you travel, I dont like laying in the bed at night thinking about what happened the night BEFORE. There for I ALWAYS bring my own "Blankie" and my own pillow... cuz i just have this thing with pillows too lol. I try not to leave anything in hotel rooms anymore.Went down to have lunch with the girls, came back and my bag of... ermm... weed :nope: :back: was gone. Like what am I suppose to do? Go down to the lobby and say "Hey, I think your maid stole my weed" lol. NO!! And thats prolly why they stole it. They knew I wouldnt say anything.... I didnt even want to mention it now o_O

So why risk leaving anything around for them to take, jewelery, computers, cell phones etc. I dont even like leaving my clothes/food there... but what are you suppose to do about that right? lol

I think that its gross to have sex at a hotel, EW, i mean, what if there were sercurity cams, and some random guard guy was watching you??? EW.

I usually leave my stuff in hotels, but not valuables.

They don't have cameras in the rooms :/ At least, I wouldn't think they would, it would be an invasion of your privacy. Besides, 100+ cameras (for a small hotel) would cost big bucks!
I mean, if you're having sex in the elevator or hallway or something, yeah, you could be watched. But not in the rooms.
and personally, I wouldn't have an issue with having sex in a hotel. I mean, a nice-ish hotel, not a pay by the hour place ;)

You know.. I've not once even thought about that... But then the thirll of getting caught ;)

Rooms won't have cameras.. Everywhere else will. Unless you're doing it in the pool/spa/sauna / hallway / elevator / dining area / anywhere else like pool table in the games room or whatever else they have then you'll be fine. IF you're doing it in other places.. Good job :) I have.. its fun

But I normally don't like hotels that much.
