Personally I don't know, but I had Anfan explain it to me like this and it made a little sense that they MAY not work on the weekends. He said Neopets is a business and about making money, therefore they have employees, and most likely give them days off, and those days would most likely fall on the weekends. Or something like that, cant remember his exact wording, hope you still get what I was trying to say xD But yea, it makes sense that they would give employees the weekend off. I'm sure they don't give everyone the weekends off, but its very possible they do give some, therefore it maybe be a little safer on the weekends to cheat. But yea, if anyone has any personal exp. with his, I would like to hear it as well.
but do you think the employees job are to just sit in front of the computer and detect funny activity? o.o
Good point, i mean they probably DO have people whos job that is, but the way I think of it is, the main people working on the weekends are the ones needed to moderate the boards, and keep the site up and running, like dealing with errors etc. Heh, now I want to try this theory xD Maybe this weekend Ill SS on some accounts from like friday late nigvht, to sunday early morning. And see what happens.
Neopets has office hours. True story. There's usually no one in the office on weekends. Most likely true story. Only thing that catches people are bots really. You have no idea how many people do something so out of the ordinary. They might not catch the smart people but they will always catch the dumb ones.
The way i thought of it was kind of like this.... lets say you check your email daily (most of us do i assume) an you go away for the weekend- No access to internet (lets say you were camping XD) when you get back, you still have emails taht have accumulated- And if you are like me, you deal with them in the order that they came.. I figure Neopets does the same stuff, only with cheating and suspicious activity.
O.k. This is an easy one. there are live monitors on 24/7. They work in shifts. Their office is open from 8am - 6pm. Outside of that they are closed, but they have shifts for who is on call for monitor duty. and these people get alerted when a bot catches certain types of activity. Not all the bannable activity as then they would never get any rest I am sure but certain things are set for them to deal with. They do not bot ban anyone. If you are banned, it is because one of the monitors on call reviewed the situation and banned you. This is why I believe they ban more at night than in the day .. I mean who really wants to be sleeping and have to get up to review a situation on neopets.
I believe they don't work on the weekends! My friend has been caught by their little mod bot... he posted something on the guild board about Charlotte being not-so-nice. It could have looked like that, though it was 100% innocent in context with the past few messages. But having seen only that, it sus'd him on a friday night, and TNT didn't respond to his email until about noon (NST) on Monday. He was promptly unsus'd, and they told him it wouldn't count against him, and he got an apology.
they have to have monitors on standby for major incidents/crashes/glitches that need immediate attention. But they do not sit there staring at a screen. They only get on for the major things, not the minor ones.
You know, besides the fact in itself that Neopets is a business (as Grandmaster already paraphrased me saying; I think my actual post is over in the "I've been iced!" thread section. Oh, and by the way, I'm female. :yup, so they have office hours, you can always go check the "contact us" hiring thing. Every once in a while they ask to hire people (varying posts from translator for content to different languages, to programmers and artists), and one of the positions they ask for hiring is moderators in various time zones. Neo has moderators that work in shifts and theoretically should cover Neo 24/7, but these mods are mostly for watching the boards and such to "keep Neopets a safe and friendly community" (or something similar to that.) In my experience, though, it's far safer to do things like AB and SS on weekends than weekdays. On weekends, if you're frozen it's probably b/c you did something idiotic and a bot caught you. On weekdays, it's a lot more likely to be an actual person looking into suspicious activity and freezing you. (So, don't trigger any red flags on weekends, and you'll be much safer than if you did the same thing on a weekday.
well, i've heard they don't work...but there are the auto bot thingys...so, its still possible to get frozen
like what most of the other users have explained, Neopets is a company/business and i am pretty sure their working days excludes weekends. hmm..but the way Anfan had put it, it seems much safer to AB on weekdays than weekends.. a bot is "dead" and a human is flexible and might not notice/feel that certain things u are doing is freezable.
when it comes to online companies. they have to have staff 24/7 to run for monitoring reasons .. moreso for a webbie that has constant activity back and forth with their server. They do go home from the office at a normal hour but that is when they switch to a secondary security company or they have their own set of monitors that do graveyard detail. but I am sure it is just like most businesses that implement that .. they are not actively watching like they do in the day .. they are just there for when the bots notice something and alerts them .. and then the bots would have to be programmed to only aleart for certain types of infractions .. otherwise someone would have easily overrode their servers on a weekend and got themselves whatever they wanted and covered there tracks enough that they could enjoy the spoils while a shell or two got frozen.
Nah they don't work during the weekend, there may be some customer support people that works on the weekend but the crew who freezes people doesn't work during the weekend.
while midnight is technically not the weekend, this thread has gone over to cover after normal business hours. so therefore by the above post in the neopet news. they apparently do work outside of regular business hours
You can't expect someone to be working weekends since that would require time and a half salary? Why do that when you can have bots do the same thing at little to no cost albeit they have a few people running neopets to make sure it's up and running...it's viacom they have like thousands of employees. Bots only detect very unusual activity if your smart and willing to take a risk then you have a good chance of not getting caught IMO.
I dunno, I am from an oilfield community. All I was ever raised around was offices where they had people working 24 / 7 to maintain ... albeit it is only a skeleton crew after normal business hours but it is still a crew in the offices for any crashes to the mainframe, hackers, etc.
Lol. So you're going to assume that TNT would give you the benefit of the doubt? Hm. Have you been chain frozen yet, for anything? Well, anyways, if you haven't found out whether or not TNT being merciful is even a possibility, I'm sure you will soon enough. (Have fun ABing on weekdays and finding out for yourself!)
Its a business, they may or may not get weekends off. And they're probably on Neo on their days off anyway ;D
IMO it's safer to ab on weekends there are more people on, harder for TNT to call out 1 person, but that comes at a price...more people (and abers) to compete with.
