It's not a matter of sense of humour...it's a matter of people not knowing when they've gone too far and are just acting stupid

EDT: This is an awful idea, btw.

I agree, I9. It's like people are using freedom of speech as an excuse for humiliating some people. It's just a lack of respect. Not that I am defending the islamic fanatics, but not all are like this (99% aren't) - and looking at those pics in that group just makes me think "damn. idiots". they're asking for it.

Why can muslims restrict what we draw/write. We have freedom of speech. They wish to threaten to kill anyone, and have indeed killed people in the past. Yet muslim is the "peaceful" religion.

I could go on and on, and after the threats to south park writers, i think the group is amazing and shoves 2 fingers at the muslim world to get off their high horse.

/no offense intended for any muslims on the forum <3

Oh and their publicly burning denmark and USA flags is fine, yet we draw a picture and it's not :p One rule for one and one for another.

i read in a textbook Muslims are misunderstood because they are pictured in the press to be terrorists when actually they're kind, peaceful and loving. <3

First of all, that's a riddiculus statement. That "they" have killed people could be said about most religions. It could be said of political groups as well. There are a few bad apples in every basket.
Second, do you really think freedom of speech was invented so you could bully a group due to their religious belief? It's a right that you do indeed have, but that doesn't mean that you should use it carelessly.

Here in Europe, we have alot of immigrant muslims due to the troubles that have been haunting the middleeast for quite some time now. How would you feel if you have to flee your home country, only to end up in a new one where you are riddiculed for your beliefs?

I think the next generations will look back at this time and be disappointed that we could let this go on.

The use of god name in blasphemy was also considered utterly disgraceful and indeed caused many trouble, until we fought that and now it's acceptably used and they just have to deal with it.

Its not a matter of making fun, its making a stance against trying to restrict stuff.

I'll link a good youtube video later when I find it that explained a lot of stuff behind the reasoning.

Not the one I was after, that goes a bit off the line i was thinking.

I'm not sure why you posted it then. To me, that video seemed nothing more than anti-islamic, using freedom of speech as a cover.

The restricting of drawing Muhammed applies only to the Muslims, not to you. The charicature that started all this had nothing to do with freedom of speech. It was an artist who wanted publicity. Now I'm all for messing with the establishment and all that, when it comes to political art. But this was an insult directed to a religious group. It had nothing to do with making a stance against restricting, it was a cheap shot on the muslim community.

You must spread your reputation point to other users before giving to the same user.

    :( Sorry Virre, you'll get +rep eventually...

I guess there's not much to add here, Virre has nailed it on the head. Freedom of speech does not mean "always say whatever you want to whenever you want to." That being said, it is somewhat wrong for Islamic community to demand things of other people, but they certainly have the right to be pissed off. While depicting Muhammad is not against the law in this country, it is certainly disrespectful and a real dick-ish thing to do (especially in the manner that the idiots in that FB group are doing it).

It's a similar idea to slandering or berating someone else constantly. Sure, you are allowed to do it, but it's going to piss that person off. You are also going to look like a complete asshole to everyone else, and while nobody can legally force you to stop, you are really asking for someone to step over the line and shut your face for you.

SoC, didn't you also see the Tourette's episode of South Park? Since you seem to hold the show in such high esteem, I find it odd that you didn't take that episode's message to heart as well.

    EDIT: lol, asshole isn't filtered

I think most of the pictures are creative. And I'm not offended in any way.

But ste, love, I am not violent xD :(
You are putting me in a corner with those guys. :(

But freedom of speech is there, just don't point out the finger on all the people ;)
