I was answering something in Homework and I had a nostalgic experience thinking about the play The Crucible. There are some pretty fantastic quotes in there and a couple that I can just imagine spoken with a glint of fanatical energy in the eyes of some actor that send shivers all over. Here's one of my favorites "Give them no tears! Tears pleasure them! Show honor now, show a stony heart and sink them with it" -Elizabeth Proctor Anyways I was just wondering what epic quotes people remember that are a little obscure. Nothing mainstream like "I have a dream" though, nothing against Martin Luthor King but everyone knows that one. So post really really good quotes and indicate where they're from, whether play, movie, tv, poem (Ozymandias is <3 ) book or whatever.
One of my favorite quotes is one from 10 things I hate about you (movie): Kat Stratford: I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots, and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme. I hate it, I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it when you're not around, and the fact that you didn't call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all. That's so cute :3
Deep in the human unconscious is a pervasive need for a logical universe that makes sense. But the real universe is always one step beyond logic. - From the novel Dune Much that has been called religion has carried an unconscious attitude of hostility toward life. True religion must teach that life is filled with joys pleasing to the eye of God, that knowledge without action is empty. All men must see that the teaching of religion by rules and rote is largely a hoax. The proper teaching is recognized with ease. You can know it without fail because it awakens within you that sensation which tells you this is something you've always known. - From the novel Dune "My doctor says that I have a malformed public duty gland and a natural deficiency in moral fiber, and that I am therefore excused from saving Universes." - Ford Prefect (HGTTG)
Eleanor Roosevelt - “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.†Jassamyn West - “A taste for irony has kept more hearts from breaking than a sense of humor, for it takes irony to appreciate the joke which is on oneself.â€
"Here is my final point, oh thank you God. About drugs, about alcohol, about pornography, whatever that is. What business is it of yours what I do, read, buy, see, or take into my body as long as I do not harm another human being on this planet? And for those of you out there who're having a little moral dilemma in your head about how to answer that question, I'll answer it for you - none of your f*cking business. Take that to the bank, cash it, and go on a f*cking vacation out of my life." "When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion, it is called religion" 2 of my favourite quotations

Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." -Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear.
