I didn't know guys really dressed up for this? All fancy dress film guys look the same...you could go as like Peter Parker or something, that shouldn't be too hard...

Crazy brits...if you're going to do Rowan Atkinson, please at least be Black Adder...he was a far more useful character than the dreadful Mr. Bean

    i'd look amazing
I just need a brown jacket!

Coolest guy costumes I can think of are The Joker and The Mad Hatter

I thought of the Joker but there are several problems with it...1) Lots of people are going to do it...2) It looks horrible if you don't do it right, so it's not all THAT easy

Just weld together a sweet Iron Man costume :)

Raoul Duke from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. A ghostbuster. Tony Montana (Scarface). Will Ferrell in Blade of Glory (ahahahahaha, way too much, but it had to be mentioned in case you have a leotard lying around). Will Ferrell in Anchorman. D*ck in a Box off SNL (but you have to be gutsy...you have to have je ne sais quoi. You have to have good comebacks for any haters.) Napolean Dynamite, of course. Do NOT be Borat. That's all that I can come up with right now.
If a Ninja Turtle was easy or classy, I would suggest that. Shame it's neither.
    Best of luck!

Oh, yes. Welding is so much easier than *gasp* asking an experienced female's help with your makeup. The horror!

You'd be original, but if you actually wanted to do anything in the costume, it would be next to impossible, even if it was dead simple to make the outfit itself. It's like the time that a few of the lads dressed up as Teletubbies - completely ACE, but they were all dead hot for the entire night.

For some odd reason..fancy to me is like..usually roles of some really ghetto film. I like Elizabethan characters from Shakespeare. Yes it's a little on the nerdy side but hey! They have some well known modern version of his plays as well on film. That's all I can think of when it comes to fancy :( Outfits from way back tend to be a lot more fancier. Also harder to do that is.

I'm going to assume that your response to my joke was facetious...anyway, I thought of another idea: Paint yourself yellow and then go as one of the characters from The Simpsons...take your pic, there are lots of them :p

I love the Ron Burgundy idea, I was going to suggest it myself. Burgundy jacket, moustache.

Depending on how well-versed in old movies your peer group is, you could go as Charlie Chaplin's little tramp.

If you wanted to stay in character and not talk at all the whole night, it works :) The Little tramp is the thing that first pops into my head when I think of a movie character who's dressed up distinctively.

I'm just teasing. I mean, welding is unrealistic, but trust me - if I'm actually being a bitch, there will be no doubt about it. And the Simpsons thing is sweet, though it'd be a horror to get all that yellow paint off, haha.

How'd the party go??? When you said that it was Thursday, you meant this Thursday, I presume.

facetious means playful and humorous...I figured you weren't being mean about it :p

Yes, welding is highly unrealistic, hence the joke...thanx on the thumbs up for the simpsons idea

I too wonder how it went and what you eventually went as

I thought that facetious was more the sarcastic and bitingly inappropriate kind of humorous...
    My bad.
But seriously, could you imagine trying to get clean?

I know people who have been smurfs and stuff for halloween...the paint usually just peels off after a while, but there'll be some specks on you for a week or so :p :D

Yeah, facetious has a kinda bad connotation, but I didn't intend it

I've been an oompa-loompa for a party. But I cheated and went as a girl oompa-loompa, ie I wore purple fishnets and made my hair blue and left it at that for unnatural coloring.
