Before you say anything, remember this is the news section, too, not just sports.

Friday the 13th, 2029 an asteroid will nearly graze Planet Earth. Watching a thing on it on History channel. They're saying 1 in 60 chance of hitting. I don't like those odds. I'll be 44 years old when that happens, but still. O.O and, to make me more nervous, it's circling back around 7 years after that.

    Nervous?

no not really, many people over the past years have claimed the world is coming to an end. We are still here today, aren't we? I really don't believe all this but i think it's interesting.

It's a 1 in 60 chance. It's not likely going to happen. Ok, well a 1.67% chance

Don't worry about it... it's not going to hit, it'll just be a spectacular show to see when asteroid 2004 MN4 will fly past Earth only 18,600 miles above the ground.

Read this story and it'll tell you more about it. This story has been around for almost 2 years now.

Hopes this lets you sleep better!

I'm a researcher... it's what I do. Did you read my post first before posting?? hehehee

As for the actual event... I'd read about that a couple of years ago anyway.

You know, there are so many things that could kill us at this point, don't bother stressing over one.

This was said by a man they called nostrudamus is was alive hundreds of years ago, does anybody remember a few years ago where a meteor almost collided with earth well his prodiction was it was going to miss us by a few thousand miles well guess what it did just that.

But the point i am getting to is he also said in 2029 a meteor would take civilisation back to the ice age, as the meteor would cause a thick smog which wont aloww any sunlight through meaning no sunlight no food which means we all die of starvation and then with no sun is the coldness slowly but surley taking us back to the ice age.

LMAOOOO seems like i did listen in school sometimes   8)

I say we get together a ragtag bunch of deep-core drillers, fly them in spaceship to plant an explosive on the asteroid, in an attempt to destroy the asteroid and the save the world from total pulverisation. No doubt it'll have some hiccups and some kinda personal sacrifice will be involved.

Either that, or we can just assume its not going to hit, just like it hasn't the past 100 times they say something like this ;)

And as this hasn't been posted, you guys should check out
    http://www.lpl.arizona.edu/impacteffects/
and have a look at what would happen if something really did hit earth in the near future :).

Didn't Bruce Willis or someone else make a movie about doing that.

    LOL

If it hits us... we're history. Forget about ice ages, if it hit, it would blow away a good portion of our atmosphere. We be kinda like Mars.

Extinction is just a process of life. The dinosaurs were around for a lot longer than we have been and personally I haven't seen a T-Rex walking around lately.

lol ARMAGEDDON is the film but that film was a fact based movie as they done it all on calculations from previous meteors. So technically yes thats what we could do ( BUT HIGHLY DOUBTFUL)
