Today, i just ordered the new 2010 alienware m15x laptop. With intel i7 quad-core, 8gb ddr3 ram, and 1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA GeForce graphics card, along with every other upgrade possible beside blue-ray). total price after 500 bucks for back to school sale ran to about 2.6k, with extend advanced warranty (replace if i break). Now, I'm looking for a way to hook my ps2 and other game systems to my laptop to use instead of a tv. I've read on some forums that the expresscard tv tuner way worked fine for them, but i've read more stories of horrible lag, and it not working well. Realizing i have the best hardware on the market in laptops, do you think an expresscard with rca input give me lag? Or should my laptop be fine since its built for stuff like this? If no, any other options you can look at? I have only an audio in port and expresscard slot for input ports, the rca port is an out port on this laptop. Thanks for any help
Mate that's a kick arse laptop, prices are a premium down here... May I ask what you intenD to do with it? Gaming I presume, I'm looking at getting one as well .
gaming and video editing, but mostly for programming purposes. running eclipse, photoshop, and a few different browsers together causes some problems for my current computer. Same thing when running final cut pro, after effects, and photoshop. They all require quite a bit of ram, and decent processing power. I plan on using this thru college, seeing as i'm senior about to enter college next year. Its a pretty penny, but worth it if i get 4-5 years of solid use from it, and possibly more. The only reason programming right now takes so long is computer lag and freezes. Most freezs are from the ram crashes, but a decent amount are the gpu overheating. I've been watching temperatures lately, and it gets into the low 70's with normal use, while the next highest is 58, which is the cpu.
