Its a site that promotes artists ( many of whom are QUITE good ) that are not currently well publicized. You can download many songs free, and who knows, you may buy something (I did) It has all kinds of music, from acoustic to rap to electronica. Seriously, if you are at all musically inclined check it out. http://www.Garageband.com

I have a friend who uses this site to promote his music - I'll post his band name later when I next talk to him. It's a great opportunity for musicians to get their work out there and a great way for music-lovers to find new stuff to listen to.

Thats pretty cool. What kind of music do he and his band play? Also, could you ask him how much exposure the site has given them?

I also like how they have daily and weekly spotlights. It seems like it would really help to start off the exposure "process".

He actually wrote a speech in one of my classes about how internet marketing works better for small bands - according to him, he's actually managed to make enough money to buy new instruments from people finding out about his music through Garageband. He's alternative-rock style, I don't know if you can search bands by area but it's San Luis Obispo/Santa Maria CA.

lol, now yarr talking about the mac music program (which is also pretty awesome).
Its a site that features small band's music, not that program.

Btw, i wasnt able to find any way to search by location.
I agree, that internet is way better for small bands. On the internet, its much easier for people to "drop in" and give the music a listen. It doesnt take the commitment of going to a gig, and possibly paying, driving, and hanging around for awhile. All you need to do is basically search, and press play. And in addition, it wont matter that people havent heard you at all.

If you can get a band name, or anything like that, I would still love to check out our friends band
