    So it's been awhile now since school started. But my sleeping is just getting worse. Through September I was able to sleep at 10:30, get in bed and fall asleep within minutes no problem. But now? It's impossible. Even if I go straight to bed at 10:30 I can roll around all the way till 11PM, sometimes 11:30, 12AM, and then I end up getting up and losing that stingy feelings\ in my eyes and I end up officially sleeping at 1AM.

    I think i've been getting irregular sleep for awhile and I can't fix it. Every day in class I am pretty much drop dead. I have three classes before lunch, and if I stay awake for the first class, I end up giving in to sleep in the second class. If I sleep in the first class I can stay awake for the second class, etc.

    The thing is sometimes even when I get 8 hours of sleep, I would still feel crazy tired in the morning. Especially when I wake up at 6 in the morning, leave the house at 6:30, and be on the bus for an hour and a half in total until I get to school. It's quite far. I manage a little nap on the bus but I guess that makes me even more tired when I wake up?

    I am so scared to take naps when I get home, depending if I see my boyfriend or not I am usually home anywhere between 5-6. Then given the amount of work, sometimes I have no time to nap. The thing is, even if I DO have time to nap, I am scared I won't be able to go to sleep at 10:30, and I don't want that to happen.

    Is there any way or anything to do anywhere an hr to half an hour before bed time that ensures me a good night's sleep, and would fall asleep almost instantly? Sometimes I wake up at 3AM and I honestly and seriously just end up going on my laptop for a bit. I leave it on because I can't seem to sleep without music. I usually play instrumentals when I am going to sleep. Although I find that a little ineffective now.

    I quickly google'd this article because I bounced back up from bed {Now 11:37PM}
    http://media.www.reflector-online.com/m ... 9680.shtml

    And I don't know. I really need to fix this given I am only into my 18th year of living life, and I am sensing that I am super unhealthy. This is more than just eating veggies and drinking water. This is something I can't figure out a way to fix and it's frustrating that I know I am tired, yet I can be easily distracted from sleep, or I simply won't feel sleep when the time has come for me to finally get sleep.

    Sometimes i've been wondering whether it's the fact that I have too much thoughts in my mind? If so, how is it possible to clear it out and "stop thinking" if you know what I mean?

    Sorry for the long post..it's been a problem of mine for awhile..and it's a little ridiculous to post it on NFnet sometimes as it seems, but maybe some of you might have a few pointers or so.

    Thanks for reading and trying to absorb my situation.

    {I'd prefer methods that doesn't involve any intake of food or milk or anything alike before I sleep. I heard sleeping after a snack or anything like that is rather bad. Although I have a super high metabolism so I won't need to worry about being fat at all.}

    I have had issues like this on/off for years I have terrible sleeping patterns xD It sounds like your busy pretty much all day so you should be tired so I'm guessing it's not a case of do more exercise. You may have an iron deficiency this can play havoc with your sleep so go to the doctors and they can test your blood to see if you need more iron or not. What is your intake of caffeine like? Some people are super sensitive to caffeine so if they drink coffee or have a glass of coke in the morning by midday they are already feeling drowsy because they are very sensitive to the caffeine drop. If you have caffeine in your diet cut it out for a week and see if it improves. A warm drink and a hot bath before bed can relax you before sleep don't worry about the warm drink before sleep it's fine to do. As you seem to be over thinking see if there is one thing in particular you keep thinking about if it's a problem or whatever try to solve it... it sounds simple but if your worried or stressed if affects sleep greatly. A final little bit of advice, try to not read or watch TV before you sleep it makes you think more (obviously xD) and makes it harder to switch off and go to sleep this is why a bath is perfect before bed because you can relax and your mind can relax and it gets you perfectly ready for sleep. Those are all little bits of advice I have heard before. What solves it for me most of the time though is just shutting my eyes getting all warm and comfortable and then if I can't sleep I just think to myself "Ah well I get to feel all warm and rest my eyes and enjoy this bed" If you panic about not sleeping you will never fall asleep. Don't constantly check out the clock just lie there relaxed and enjoy it and you will just drift off to sleep. Try all these and if none of them work :eek: there are lots of over the counter things that can help you drift off ^^

    Hope this helps <3

    Most people don't get enough sleep. I found out an hour/hour and a half nap helps me, but since you are in high school or junior high I assume, you can't really nap there :p
    Maybe try taking an hour nap as soon as you get home.

    It's been estimated that because we need to sleep, we are losing at the same time millions and millions of dollars/euros.

    Now to help you with this :
    Of course there is. Put a lot of effort, everything you do, do it the harder way and always take the long road. You will find that it could improve your sleep :p I know that from experience. :yup:

    No thanks to the Nyquil. It's not meant to be used that way is it?

    Work out also no thanks. One I don't have that sort of stuff at home, two i'm not close to a gym, and three I am a girl who don't work out ever.

    I view sleep as a waste of time, so ive trained myself to normally function on 4hrs and less. This does not mean i dont like sleeping, I love sleeping... To answer your question, if you are having trouble sleeping (which i used to have) get some music from Shpongle or secret chiefs and just listen to that calming pleasantly trippy music which luls you to sleep instantaneously. Two songs, Exhalation, and Crystal skulls cause my eyelids to feel 1000lbs even if im wide awake. well good luckv

    rofl, you call going to sleep at 10:30-12 sleep deprived? I go to sleep at 12:30 on average and have to wake up at 5:30 every day :p
    Yeah, I'm starting to doze off in classes, and it kinda sucks. I need to try to get more sleep :D

    As for your problem, its not just the amount you sleep, its the quality of sleep. Don't eat anything for a few hours before you sleep. Try to sleep thinking happy things instead of worrying about something that's gonna happen the next day. Keep nice and warm and snug. Try turning your body around so your head is sleeping on the other end of the bed (I dunno, it helps me :p)

    Moo, seriously, just go running. One, running will get you eating and being healthier in general so that you can run better which will in the long run keep you healthier and less tired. Two, you will have tired muscles from running and can sleep. Three, it is a good way to meet people and raise self-esteem - another big part of health. If not running, take up any sport. You do not have to run far, start at a mile and go as slow as you want. If you remember to do this 4 or 5 times a week, you will start getting more sleep, I guarantee it.

    I personally play soccer, and I never have sleep problems in season. Out of season I end up staying up really late just lying in bed.

    If you are tired all the time you also may have a medical condition such as mono. Talk to your doctor if you think it is really serious. Only you can judge that.

    Edit: Zero, that thing where you lie on the bed upside down helps me whenever I have a tough night too lol. Who knows, probably some psychological thing.

    I am in High School right now, so for the times I go to sleep and the times I wake up, I usually end up waking with my head on my desk and a red line on my head from where my pencil was.

    Should take a look at your diet and exercising. Maybe drink more water and try cardio. In any case taking pills isn't a good solution over a prolonged period. Try making yourself occupied with activities that would wear you out (make sure your diet is healthy) like jogging for 30mins everyday. By the time you get back to bed after a day's work I don't think you would still be having problems.

    Consistency helps you fall asleep... if you have a certain set of procedures every day, then your body will willingly drift off. For me, it's shower, brush my teeth, read a book, and then i fall asleep after like 50 pages :D Anyways, high school is tough, now that I'm a senior I have nothing to do :D But I know how difficult it was just last year >.> Don't worry, it might seem like a long time, but just push through it the best you can.
