[GIMP] Pulsing Cackle (56k warning)

I don't do much graphics, but I got bored.

A bit big, but I like bigger canvases.

Rate and leave comments.

 

Verrrryy nice effects. After a few, a gradient line shows up in the black text and so the upper half is gray. Here, better yet ill show you what I see.



Not sure if that's an error or whatnot.

 

I believe it was an attempt at shine (like your default level 1 avatar. There is shine on the top).
Am I right cackle?

 

Yes that is intentional, the lowering in opacity of the top part. That is there from the beginning, not after a few.

 

Bah, sorry it lagged the first few so I didn't catch it. Was it hard to make the 'pulse' effect?

 

Under 'Effect' i think, there is an 'Animation' selection. I'm fairly sure it would be under there.

 

uh like the efffect ... The background is not my taste but love it anyway...

 

I'm not sure the background goes with the word cackle, the pulse and the font choice, it's a bit too cheery for me with the colours. Maybe making it black and white would make the entire thing more menacing.

 

The pulsing effect was fairly easy to make, but it wasn't a premade animation or whatever.

I would make a full tut, but I'm afraid I would curse the forum. D: So let me quickly explain it.

Basically have a background and text or whatever and merge all that into one layer.

Then duplicate it 8 times.

Then go to Filters - Blur - Motion Blur.

Select Zoom and put about 20 for the second and eight layer.

Then do the same thing but 40 for the third and seventh layer.

etc. etc.

Basically you gradually increase up to the middle layer, where you have the highest rate/value whatever...

Then I evenly break it up.

Then I duplicated the originals a bit for the animation to pause on them.

 

Eep, cool animation but I think I've stared at it for a bit too long. x.X

The only thing I'd criticize is the background (distracting from the pulsating word, and of course blinding); though if the purpose is mind control it works great as is. =P

 

I think someone mentioned it before, but what you should do is have it as a black bg with white dots and have the warp speed effect =]

 

I like how everything pulses, except for the very center, like youre being sucked into it. XD Not sure if thats intentional, but I like it anyways. Very neat effect.

But it's good.
