This guide would be done using Internet Explorer. Any version would work just fine. Clearing Your Temporary Internet Files First, it would be best for you to clear all your temporary internet files from your Internet Explorer, makes life a lot easier for this guide.(Not necessary though) To clear your temporary files, Go to Tools > Internet Options Select Delete under the Browsing History section. Only press Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files. Yes... Downloading Youtube Video First, go to the youtube video you would like to download. Make sure the entire video has buffered finish. It is IMPORTANT or else you would not get the full video. Go to Internet Options again. This time, click Settings under Browsing History. Select View Files. This will open up the Temporary Internet Files folder. If preferred, you can "bookmark" this folder in your windows explorer to make it easier for you to get back here again. Whatever folder layout you have, change it to Detailed. Sort the files by Size with the largest size first. As you can see, the largest file in the folder would have "video" in its name and is a Flash Video, this would be the video you want to download. Most video files are usually between the sizes of 2,000 - 10,000kB. Drag this file to your desktop to be able to play the video. And there you go! Extra: Obtaining Just the Audio From the Video Maybe you just want to get the song you want badly or you wanna obtain the sound track from a certain video, this would help you to get what you want. First, download FLVExtract from here. Place the FLVExtract folder in Program Files and create a shortcut to it on the Desktop. FLVExtractCL.exe can be deleted, it doesn't have any use for us. Open FLVExtract. You can check whatever you want to extract from the FLV file. If you just want the audio, uncheck the other 2. Then, drag your file onto the program. This window would then popup. Just press OK and your audio file would be on the desktop. Sometimes, the format of the audio file can be .aac or .mp3, most of the time its .mp3. If you do get a .aac file, you have to find an audio convertor to convert the file to .mp3. I'll recommend Switch by NCH Software. The first time you do this would obviously take awhile since you'll be following every step of the tutorial. Once you know how to do it, it's way faster than any downloading software since they repeat the entire downloading process again. PS. Some of you may realise that your file doesnt show up in the Temporary Internet Files folder when you follow this guide. This is because the file is "Temporary" and will disappear after some time. This will only happen when you are constantly referring to this guide and take awhile to process each step. Once you know the steps, its almost 99% chance that the file would be in the folder when you are finding it.
Nice that your took the time to do all this but what about site like keepvid.com put the url, click submit, save-as the download link and voilà !!! You have the flv right there. No other program, nothing more than 5 clicks.
Well there are always many different techniques to download youtube videos. This is just one way. Besides, the good thing about using this method it works for every single flv video website out there. Google videos, metacafe, daily motion etc. What's even better is that it also works for SWF games. This includes neopets or gaming sites like miniclip.com. You could also test your hacks with the neopet's swf once you have it on your own com. Not easy to find a free program that helps you download swf eh?
True, if you see this from this angle. I was just wondering why taking so much time to explain all this when some sites already do all this for you. But again, nice guide !
Well I just thought its a pretty interesting knowledge to have. Not many people explore things that are stored in the computer. They just use programs and scripts to do things that have already been done. Why use a downloader for youtube when the video is already in your computer? Don't really see the logic to that :/
http://file2hd.com Insert a url and you can download anything from the page...style sheets, objects(swf), images, audio, video, etc. All sites. Although this is a good guide for virus-conscious people who don't really want to download anything from a site or something silly.
Yeah, that and file2hd.com is really good. I was just going to say, if you wanted only sound, listentoyoutube.com is just keepvid and file2hd, except for sound. It converts it to MP3 actually really fast :yup: .
Keepvid is easier, if you haven't downloaded the youtube video yet. You can see the red bar expanding at the bottom of video. Until grey is completely red using keepvid might be easier no hassle method.
