Introduction So, Firefox has this wonderful search feature implanted in the 3.5 version to compete with Google Chrome's "Search Google". Sometimes, the default search is not something we like. So, I decided to write a short little guide on how to change it. The Guide 1. So, let's just start with a clean tab. 2. In the address bar, type "about:config" (without quotes) and press enter. You should see this: Just be careful and click "I'll be careful, I promise!" 3. So, your screen should have all this gibberish. Click in the filterbox and search "keyword.URL" 4. Right-click on the only result and click "Modify". This pop-up should pop-up : Enter your search engine URL of your preference. Make sure you get one from the list. Restart Firefox, and test! Here is a list of search engines: Code (Text): Google - http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q= Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords= AOL Search - http://search.aol.com/aol/search?s_it=comsearch40&query= Ask.com - http://www.ask.com/web?q= YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query= eBay - http://shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw= Google Images - http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q= If you would like some other search added, please just post or PM! Finale and Credits Well, I got the idea to write this guide from this thread: Has FF always been this cool? Lightning - The Guide! Hope you guys liked it...
Re: [GUIDE] How To Change Your Default Search in Firefox One thing. You might wanna edit the screenie pictures. They stretch my board a little. In step two, there are a lot of unused space in both pictures. Just chop off the white in the first and all the grey in the second. In step three, you can cut out a lot of white space to the right. Step four is fine though. Nice guide and thanks for the unneeded credit. xD
Re: [GUIDE] How To Change Your Default Search in Firefox Lol, thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to be changing some stuff anyways because I messed up...on some stuff Different screenies too!
