Ok so this is my second tutorial. It is a little harder then recoloring pictures. It comes in handy when you want to make yourself as a sprite or make a shiny pokemon sprite ect... ok lets start! Good Luck XD 1. Find a sprite you would like to recolor. For this tutorial i will be using Shadow the hedgehog. The tools circled are the ones we will be using. 2. Click the pick color/eydropper tool. Select the lightest shade of the part of the sprite you are going to do, i'm doing the black part of shadow 3. Cilck the pencil tool then draw a little box of that color. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until ALL shades are done. It should look like this: 5. Now click the lightest shade box with the eyedropper tool. Go up to colors then edit colors. Then Define custom colors, find the color you want by dragging the thingy BUT DO NOT CHANGE THE SHADE OF THE COLOR, THATS A BIG NO NO well you can if you want but i suggest not :yup: . Then click ok. 6. Make a box of the new color under that first shade. Keep going to edit colors and make it darker and darker depending on how many shades you have. It should now look like this: 7. (My favorite part XD ) Now that you have both shades of colors click the eyedroppers tool, Left click the lightest shade of the original color and go back to the eyedropper tool again and right click the ligthest new color. Click the eraser (WARNING: DO NOT HOLD IN THE LEFT MOUSE BUTTON IT WILL MESS IT ALL UP) then hold the RIGHT button and drag it over you sprit, now all the pixels of that original color should turn into the new color. Repeat for the rest of the colors going from lightest to darkest. Finished product: 8. TADA your are done. Hope you ejoyed this tutorial. Feel free to post you sprite recolors so i can see them. if there is already a topic of this i will delete this.
Whoa, I didn't know about the right-click-to-use-secondary-colour thing in the eraser tool. Haha! Guess I don't use Paint often. Learn something new everyday ;D Thanks so much for this guide!
This is a really good guide, I like the idea of using the palettes. I do a little bit of Pixel art in Photoshop, but the fundamentals are basically the same...except I doubt I'd be able to use paint as well as I can use Photoshop lol. This is definitely an easy tutorial to follow for those with not much experience in graphics. Good job.
Cool guide... easier way would probably be Photobucket CS4 as it is more advanced but confusing lol anyway +rep ( for helping people that couldnt do this before)
