Look at this photoshopper on Model Mayhem http://www.modelmayhem.com/1112255 /rant Seriously! His work is AMAZING! But at the same time it is WAY out of line. I've never seen a photoshopper who disorted someone's face or body so much. I've seen photoshoppers put makeup on a person, or change their background to make them look like they're in a different place...but this is out of hand. A few pictures in there is a ridiculously skinny girl in a bikini, and her body is STILL photoshopped to make it seem "perfect". This kind of crap gets me so angry and makes me ashamed to model. I see why girls starve themselves to death or paint on gallons of makeup to look like the "edited" versions of these pictures. :|
The one by Ralph Lauren? Yes! She was fired a while back for being "too big for their clothes" but Ralph Lauren apologizes for the photo -_-
It has been this way for a long time, and yeah, it has REALLY gone out of hand. Dove also made a campaign about it some time ago; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYhCn0jf46U . I do agree, it affects young girls/boys, and makes them want to be something they don't have to. You can't tell on a picture if it's been 'shopped D: I also think it's extremely ridicilous that they photoshop skinny girls bodies oO In my opinion, it's prettier with a little soething that makes the girl natural rather than her looking like a barbie doll..
well I remember some magazine showing "plus" size models, which a 8-10 size model is probably the average size for most women they did it because of the response to some small picture they had one month so then they had a spread but the thing is they aren't wearing any of the fashionable clothes, while its nice to see average sized models--it would be nicer if they actually used those type of models on occasion I mean you look at a magazine and you think well that's cute, and you try on something similar next time you go shopping only to realize...that look kinda only works if you have no boobs/butt tshirts ftw
Well about the plus size models, they have shows with them but these women aren't 8-10, more like around 18-24 and IMO instead of focusing on the extremely skinny, or the borderline obese, they need to focus on average size women like the above poster said, which is between 4-16
Well, with technology, I think everything's bound to 'go out of hand' soon. Like, altering voices in recordings to make yourself sound good. Same concept. I'm actually fine with it... because people /know/ that it's photoshopped and hence, fake. I'm just disturbed if people abuse such technology and insist that it's real.
Eeww. If you photoshop a picture enough to make it look like someone changed race, quite frankly...isn't that a red flag of going to far? Changing makeup, clothes, backgrounds, w/e. Changing skin color/hair color is just....... And the people who are like 50 who this guy makes look half that age. Really, IS it any wonder that girls these days have such body image issues? I mean, in the girls' locker room (though thankfully I'm done w/ PE now ) whenever people say they don't like their body, everyone else echoes the same thought until someone points out that no girls like their bodies. (Generalization, yes.) For example, my little sister is a twig (FB friends, go see for yourself =P) b/c she's a swimmer, but has always also been super skinny. Half the time she hates swimming and throws fits about not going, so yesterday my parents eventually were just like "STOP THROWING TANTRUMS AND JUST QUIT ALREADY!" Her response? "But then I'll get fat!"
That edit is just wrong D: For all I know it could be a man with some makeup on, and the editing is basically making that a fake model. Model's are supposed to MODEL. They're hired to MODEL. They get chosen because they're already perfect for it. Not because they need a whole bunch of editing done on them :/
+1 90% of photographers out there aren't even real photographers anymore, because you can practically take a shitty picture, give it to someone who spends their life photoshopping and it comes out looking like something that could be on the cover of Vogue. Where is all the talent going? D:
Granny, just lemme take a photo of you with my phone. I'll send it off to a photoshopper!!!! It's gonna be on HEAT magazine, VOGUE magazine, and ZOMG.
Woooow...they made that person look gooood. Out of line though. >__< That's not real beauty. But then again...what is?
Not to sound like a creep, but I noticed your post in the member's pic thread (right around that monster eyeball guy) and noticed that you don't seem like either of the extremes :\ I think the problem is that the models that AREN'T in an extreme are all for smaller or more local places ! There are really no ways to prevent this, for it'd probably be unconstitutional to write a law requiring a certain weight for models lol
they should just get naturally attractive people instead of having to do so much to them, but then in the eyes of beauty you have to be super skinny and tall but i think that you can get naturally attractive people who arnt tall or who are fatter then a size 10 or dont have the 'right' shape face, i think they should just broaden their horizan when it comes to getting new models, where they look pretty in a picture without having to be photoshoped like the woman in the first link
Yeah that the one I'm talking about. But is not the first time. Take a look at this article and scoll down about mid way http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldne ... erges.html Take a look at this website.. on Photoshop disasters. http://photoshopdisasters.blogspot.com/
Yea I've seen the photoshop disasters those are funny. But no richyrichest876 i'm talking about the women who model as a career, the runway models that have to be at least 5'8" and under 110lbs to even get looked at. There are 3 types of models, High Fashion, Commercial, and Glamour. I'm more along the cross between a Commercial/Glamour model. But most glamour models also pose nude, which I don't do. I model for a hobby and don't consider myself a professional in the industry at all. Almost anyone can be a glamour model if they're willing to get extensions, fake boobs, wear lots of makeup, and don't mind posing for Hustler. Commercial models in most cases try to portray real-life people but many times they still have to be a pretty decent height with borderline weight options. But given yea I don't mind when i'm a little photoshopped, people asked me before which side is my mole naturally on lol because some of the pictures they're not there, some they are, ect. I don't mind when people photoshop a pimple out or something either, but to make a girl who is already unrealistically skinny, even skinnier, and making a women who clearly look like she's 50+ years of age, look like shes 20, that's when a line should be drawn.
The act in it of itself, doesn't bother me at all actually. It's just the passing it off as being natural that is distasteful. I think that it's perfectly fine for companies to photoshop to advertise beauty.
