The one I have is terrible. So I'm returning it - I just got it - and I have up to $500 to spend on a laptop. What should I get? I love gaming, by the way.

My computer (Dell Vostro I forget the model number for some reason) was about 400 dollars. I got it a year ago. I didn't buy it, my grandmother did. And she got the cheapest computer she could find aside from a netbook. She intended it to be just for my homework, not for my photoshop, games, portfolio, photography, emulators, etc... so this computer basically sucks. Its supposed to be a small business laptop so I guess that's why it sucks because I'm using it differently. She didn't even get a webcam on it. Haha. Its thin though, and its better than nothing. Runs Windows Vista too. I had to get an external hard drive and stuff. Well now I think it has viruses, idk, and Vista sucks too, so I'm buying a Macbook this summer. GO figure. It'll run me around 1000 dollars if I get a regular macbook, but I think its worth it.

As far as your question goes, stay away from Vostros or laptops that say for small businesses... I only know Dells really but I know lots of people that have Dell Inspirons and they are apparently very good and under 500 dollars I believe with certain specifications.

I hope I could be of assistance. I rambled.

Oh haha. Well what operating system was it? I suppose then get out of the Dell Family. And stay away from Vista. Maybe a netbook?

    We're sorry!

We no longer have available the desktop or notebook PC you're trying to customize, or some of its components.

That's what comes up from that link....

Acer or Asus is good but may be a little out of your budget but think of it as an investment and spend a little more :] you'll be satisfied

Yeah, Acer's blow. I would not recommend acer. I actually bought one and returned it after two days because it was already slow. Never get one

haha good idea because it will not get any better. It is funny because the specs on my hp werent as good as the ones on the acer, and I love the hp and hated the acer

Don't get a Dell. They have horrible customer service-- A year ago, I would have been like GET A DELL THEY ARE AWESOME! I bought a Dell Latitude D820 back in 2006 and it worked incredibly for 3+ yrs, then out of nowhere, it started crashing over and over, they replaced the harddrive about 6 times, the memory 3 times, basically re-built the entire thing. Thank god I had a warranty. I told them it was BS and complained & they wouldn't send me a reimbursement check, but did replace it w/ a Latitude E6500 and it is AWFUL. It looks sleek and whatnot, but in comparison it's SO crappy.

Save your money, get a Mac.

Ohyeah. I had a dell last and they lost it when they tried to fix it and I had to DUCT TAPE IT when I got it back. They refused to fix it cause 'they didn't do it'.
