*sigh* So apparently for this Bachelor of Industrial Design/Bachelor of Engineering course, I need to present a folio of my work, and that, along with an interview and my results from last year, will get my into the course. So I have a problem. I don't have a folio. Nor do I have any work to put in one. Here's what it needs to involve: Okay. That's from the application booklet - so I need to show examples of that. I've bought a sketch pad and *ahem* woodless graphite pencil at the advice of Virre and Phee, and I intend to practice sketching in said sketch book to get better like Virre told me. SO here's what I'd like to know: a. Please explain what the various categories mean, eg. composition drawing. b. What would this entail to demonstrate proficiency or relative skill in these areas? c. How do I practice these skills? (NOTE: I have Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS3) d. What do you think, assuming I will be applying for the Industrial Design area of the visual arts department of this university (and not the multimedia, etc), should be submitted that will help "demonstrate" my "standard" in the relevant area? e. What sort of things should I be sketching in my sketch book? Examples would be helpful f. Any other help that will be helpful Yeah, I've been searching for a course like this since like half way through my Commerce degree (which has been bloody awful), so any help with this aspect of my application would be brilliant +rep to anyone who is able to help me!
Exactly what is it that you're hoping to achieve with your course? What do you want to do with it when it's over? Career? Further studies? You should show your goals by the work you present, so it would help if you answered these questions.
I'm hoping to get into automotive design, with mechanical engineering. Then that just becomes project management. Then that becomes starting my own car company in a shed If that was helpful. Pretty much either designing, engineering and building cars, or D/E any other type of product/entity.
