Help On Proxies

Well i cant get my IP address. i type in the ipconfig and i get a black box and it disappears and then i type in winipcfg and i get a error that says you searched wrong
im on a windows XP

the way to do it is:

Run>> Type CMD

then when that black box appears type ipconfig in it
