Would you be willing to build your own? I've helped a lot of my friends build their own computers, and it's the best way to get a good price to match exactly what you want in the computer, rather than relying on a pre-built one.

How much would you like to spend, total? And do you need a new monitor, keyboard, mouse?

    Here's what I would recommend:

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... =S167-4219

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... =T925-2032

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... 2-5400%20P

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... u=ULT33109

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... u=ULT30240

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... =A455-2307

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... =O261-8032

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... 20AS%20ISS

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... =O261-2005

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... =E145-8008

Comes to about $1700 after rebates. If you think you don't need anything on the list, and you'd rather opt for a cheaper version, make sure you ask someone, because sometimes you really can't downgrade a piece of a computer, because it slows EVERYTHING down and all the other better parts don't matter anymore.

Why on EARTH would you recommend ANY AMD chip with the C2Ds in circulation? The E6600 demolishes the highest end AMD FX in 90% of all benchmarks, and its way cheaper than the garbage you posted. The rest of your list seems fine I guess, I personally don't like OCZ (go with G.Skill) DDR2 800 of course, there's no reason not to when you're spending that much. The rest of your list seems ok I guess.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, don't buy from TigerDirect. They screw up your order more than any other hardware company, they are very stubborn to work with if you need to return something and their customer service is horrible. Use NewEgg.

Ah alright good, save a good load of money that way as well. But definitely go with the E6600, or if you have enough money, the Q6600 Kentsfield :D

I've had nothing but fantastic results ordering from TigerDirect. And the few times I've have to make a return they've been very helpful and understanding. I prefer them over Newegg a lot. OCZ is made to be overclocked, and from my own experience, they're a good-quality company.

Can I ask why you jumped all over me? I bought nearly that exact setup, including the processor, which has performed better than anything else I've every used. Period. I posted help from my own experiences. I'm not saying I'm right and you're wrong, but I didn't intend to mislead with my recommendations.

You just came off unnecessarily upset and angry in your post :?

You can go to pcworld and find the best computer parts, theres also under 1000 computers you can buy that will do for some of the games that are out

I've bough two TD products, and both times they had to be sent back: Once was because they sent me the wrong processor, then they sent me the right processor, but it was OEM when I ordered retail -_- Very difficult customer service, it took me about a month and a half to finally get the right product. I've ordered probably 100 products from NewEgg, none of which ever needed to be returned.

G.Skill is much better quality memory than OCZ (not saying that OCZ isn't good, because it is) and can be overclocked to much higher speeds.

As far as the processor goes, you just need to read up on them a bit more :) That processor is really garbage for the price, especially when the 6600 is out there, giving you 5x the performance for half the price.

I wasn't jumping all over you, you misread my post in an angry tone.

Since im assuming the OP of the thread hasnt created the computer yet, wait out 1 more month. Grab the new conroes for a much better deal. The E6850 will be 266 and run at 3.0ghz with a 1333 FBS and 4mb. the e6600 now will cost u 300+ for only a 1000(?) FBS and 2.4ghz.

2000 is a LOT of money when talking about building your own computer, you should be able to build a top of the line with that. The main things to concentrate on is PROCESSOR and VIDEO CARD (if you're a gamer). The CPU i just mentioned will only set you bet 266, which is a bargain for its performance. If you're a hardcore 3d gamer, get the best vid card you can afford. Go with the 8800gtx for 450 and ull be set for 1-2 years. Dont wait out for ATI's new R600 becuase itll just be overly inflated.

As for overclockability, I highly doubt youll be into it if you need help building a computer, so dont worry about it. This means buying averaged/below average priced ram and motherboard, which will serve you just fine.

Thatll leave you with still over 1 grand left for the rest of th stuff, which is MORE than enough, even leaving you with enough for a great sound system, which i suggest the logitech z5500

if you;'re still looking for items, I can point you towards all the items you can use to build a top of the line computer with next generation parts for 2000.

    Check out this thread. http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread ... ight=e6400

Since your budget is 2000, use the items that is marked "premium (in teal)" Guide is from sueoltrain of slickdeals, and you cant get a better guide that what he has created.
