    So here is what happened
I but my comp on standby one night, but it actually never went into standby
I tried to turn it on but it doesnt beep or post.
the lights come on . I can see the cpu fan turning the hard drive and dvd seems to be working but it doesnt post or beep.
some times it turns on for a sec powers off for a sec then turns back on.
When i remove the ram it does the warning beeps of no ram.(does this mean the mobo is ok)

Any suggestions on what it could be?

Ok you took out your ram...But did you test it in another computer??

Another pointer is to disconnect everything and connect only the essential parts(video card, etc) except cd/dvd drives..Then see how it works..

Check the PSU..it might be a culprit..

If everything else fails...its time for a new Mother Board...

I also think that it may be any interrupt in the PSU of your Computer, because it just can's boot.Well there may be any fault in the SMPS of the CPU.I think that first you should check out that one.

If all hope is lost, put it in your freezer. Trust me on this. *Not held responsible for any damages to your PC.

My sisters computer has done this before...

I think her problem was the motherboard - Her graphics card over heated and a capacitor blew, causing damage to the motherboard as well.

OR your power supply may be on the way out?

If you have access to a second computer, just strip yours and build it in the other one.. one part at a time until you work out what isn't working :)

If the ram isn't dead now it may be the heatsink on the cpu, check to see if it fastened tightly over the cpu and that there is enough thermal grease on it to maintain good connectivity to your cpu, if all else fails get a spare psu and test that.
