I have seen in like all programs that there is some sort of Proxy support, but I have never seen these things to be usefull and when I google it I get a list of THOUSANDS of them, but I don't still know how they exactly work. Are they computers that filter information between Computer 2 computer networks? Are they servers that are just... There? Wouldn't giving all you information to someone else make you very vulnerable for Identity Theft?!?!
    Thanks,
    Me

    Your ip------neofriends.net-----You

    Your ip-------servers ip----Neofriends.net.....Sever...You (Proxy)

Please correct me if im wrong.

There are 4 types of web-based proxy

Transparant---Shit Useless, your ip is still viewable
    Annonamous--decent
    High Annonamous--Most cheaters look for
    Elite---Best completly hidden.

There are also advanced Sock proxys, in which your better of asking the programmers as im not 100 %

Then why would someone even make a transparent server in the first place?! If it really is a "useless piece of sh*t" why would someone use it -.- ... Even though that's what I've been trying to use for a while... xD
So are there any websites with free Elite proxys or do I have to pay?

Believe it or not but proxies were not inventing with neopets in mind, trans proxies have their use on the internet.

Regarding where to get them, a lot of websites post free lists of proxies, sometimes udpated every hour, others every day or so. Though these are pretty useless as thousands of other people also can get these and use them, thus they normally will not surve a purpose for you.

You can infact buy private proxies, there are forums around dedicated to selling and buying of proxies. Just google around and you'll come across one.

@ too_old. Nice explanation of the packet sending process.

Umm, I think you have to buy the PRIVATE proxy because they last very, very long. Anyways, when you rent it, you'll already know the proxy so there is no way you could "return" your knowledge. Just buy one if you have to, they're usually pretty worth it for me.

someone can correct me if im wrong but im thinking that a transparent proxies only function would be to track or maybe even block websites based on the admins discretion. something like websense. im sure all of us have seen similar things on school networks although those probably arent transparent.
