    Hey guys,

I've been informed that activity has been down recently.. and looking at the posts I definetly notice it.
Like any other forum or community, without new blood it starts to stagnate and the overall experience is reduced.
Also, this place has SO MUCH to offer..

    GOODWILL IS PRICELESS
NFnet is the equivalent of a sleepy town where everyone knows each others name - with a few town drunks and weirdos thrown in :maha:. People are actually nice to each other here.
In my experience on various neo-cheating forums, trolling and d1ckhe@dry is the golden standard. Usually full of 10 year olds in it for themselves to get certain AB's, SS's, Lists etc etc.
There's quite a selfless spirit that this forum has, that many others try to emulate and fail.

    PROGRAM QUALITY
There are some other forums out there that have an equally long list of programs available for download.
However, it's the quality of programs and ongoing support is where NFnet shines.
No where else have I seen a program that's still not only working after 5 years, but actually better. Of course I'm referring to programs like Acheteur Ultime (note the 500 cash price tag). Though, I think the idea of having to earn those programs through cash is a bit of a turnoff for some.

Here's just what I could come up with in 10 minutes.

However, the question we should ask is how to get the right type of people to join.
Simply having the dime-a-dozen people that spam simply won't do.

    So let's get brainstorming people...

I'm finishing a new referral mod and will post the information for a contest shortly.
Hope the prizes will be enough to create some activities.

When I'm done with this, I plan on creating more programs.
I already have some ideas written somewhere on my messy desk.

As soon as Expon can get AU's IRC back up and running I intend to make a few videos to upload to Youtube. Heya was kind enough to give me control over an account he started up a few years ago -- http://www.youtube.com/user/neofriendsdotnet

Basically the mod allows new users to input who referred them.

More information about it will be available to everyone in due time.

A part of this is also to make a conscious effort to increase posts. A lot of traffic isn't good if all new users do is come, see nothing happening, then go.

    ^^this
Check at the top, there's a new link before the download section.
So far, it's pretty much garbage data for testing purpose but it's working.

i think this is true. as you guys can see I'm new here but saw that this was and could still a pretty tightknit group but it doesn't help that there's not many active posts!

also im not sure how this could be done but i wouldnt want a bunch of new members who are as stated above 'bunch of ten year olds' spamming to get enough cash to get the programs, that wouldnt be ideal to the current members either who want quality discussions

I've done a little bit of referring sporadically in the past, but I think it's really the youtube videos that would bring people in. That's what got me back in the day.

Also, I kinda stopped chatting because of the OP's point: with the same few people posting, it's awfully stagnant in here

    I don't necessary have a solution, but here's a few thoughts:

    - On attracting the "right kind of membership": I think targeting older NP players (as in how long they've been with NP, not necessarily in how old they are, although, arguably, there's some correlation) would yield a better result. Generally, these players have accomplished certain goals they've set out to do. For the most part, know the ins and outs of the game, but they have either outgrown the site, or due to time commitment, can no longer be active. They can be a good resource on NF, as profiting from the game might not necessarily be their most important priority. The only reason they're still on NP is because of the "community" they've established--whether it's on the chat boards, on the guides, or within their circle of neofriends. NF can easily offer the same sense of belonging.
    - On establishing our identity: Essentially, if we want to increase traffic, we need to offer what people seek. What do NP players want most? 1. Neopoints. 2. Pets. 3. Trophies/Avatars/Game Scores. We have all of these to offer, it's just a matter of guiding those interested in the above three to our door. So where can we find them?
+ NP boards: Trading/Auction, Avatars, Pound Chat. Battledome players are rich, but they are also a much more exclusive community, and it might be harder to entice them.
+ NP selling sites: Yeah, this might be in the same genre; we don't necessarily endorse them, etc. etc. But when people want to quickly obtain neopoints, pets, or trophies/avatars, they google for "buy neopoints" or something like that, not necessarily "where to find a good autobuyer." If we establish some affiliation with these sites (even if we only contract to have our advertisement on their pages), we can drive some of their traffic our way. Essentially, the next step after "where can I find the cheapest deal on NP" is "how do I make those NP myself so I don't have to keep buying them."

And some more random thoughts, because I like to ramble:
    - Essentially, we want the kind of people who recognize that NP is a game, and that the goal is to cheat the game, not the players. Some of the people who hang out on the TP chat are quite cut-throat. They might have a lot of NP, but they also inflate their junk and happily take advantage of newer players not familiar with prices. In a sense, you can say that NF can/should help equalize the playing field a little bit.
    - There is such a thing as being too "well-known." Perhaps this will never be a problem, but it's possible that if we become better known, NP will have a better way of countering us... which is really too bad for them, because of what I said above.

I think some sites will refuse, as they sell nps for $6+ a mill and don't want competition from a forum =/

Yes and no. I don't see NF as being in direct competition with these sites. We might not endorse them, and they might not be too eager to support us, but we don't take traffic away from each other, either. NP-selling sites is supposed to be a one time, quick, hassle-less transaction. They are in the business of providing goods/service. NF, on the other hand, is a community. We might offer a more competitive price per million NP, but that's because the unspoken "price" is activity and investment in the forum. For example, it takes 40 posts to be able to SEE the Black Market section at all. Once you see the Black Market section, there are other things to consider, like a seller's reputation, demand, middleman, etc. etc. It's a lot more indirect of a "purchase" than what NP-selling sites offer.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if most NP-selling site owners are part of cheating forums like NF at some point. How else would they establish a network of enough NP players to keep them stocked?

    I appreciate the spell-check.
When I'm at work, I'm on auto-pilot. And that mode doesen't support grammar.

So Junior, what are your thoughts on getting quality people into NFnet?

Haha I've had ideas in the past of establishing our own NFnet np selling site.
We have our members pool Neopoints together from our ABing exploit and selling for as high as $10/m (the going price on those sites at the time..)
It was way too hard to co-ordinate, and some eggheads which had already thought of it found out that demands actually pretty low..

Isn't that surprising since our black market department is so quiet.

I'm all for increasing activity on here. I can't tell you how many times I've just lost interest and gone and done other stuff, and then come back a few months later, stay for a little, then leave again, etc. I liked it better when I was closer with the users on here as well. Everyone's growing up and having lives and such :'(

Well I don't like this level business. It encourages short posts!
