How to get points and use the download section

First, I know it says in the rules on how points and downloading works, however, some people get confused on how to navigate the download section. So I thought I'd help by making a guide for it...with pictures.

Also, this section said its for neopets related guides but I wasn't sure where else to post this, so move it if need be.

Getting Points
First and foremost, any and all members should read the rules before using the forum.

How to get points is a commonly asked question which is clearly mentioned in the rules. However, if for whatever reason you have a hard time finding the answer, here's a snippet:

However, if you spam for points, you may be suspended/banned. So don't do it.

Okay, but, what is spam?

On forums, spam is what we call posts that contain no real content. They tend to be random, pointless, annoying, and clog up the forum.

People spam in an attempt to gain more points faster, but like mentioned above, this can get you banned. So don't do it.

When you post, please make sure your post is on-topic and relevant to the thread.

If you're creating a new thread, make sure your thread can initiate a discussion. If there is nothing to discuss then it is probably spam.

You can only get 40 points a day! (by posting)

This means you will not be getting that super aber in one day just by posting. Sorry, not happening. If you want more points faster, then you can always donate money to the forum.

You can also gain points by contributing to the forum, such as submitting your own programs, ab lists, other things which may help out the forum, etc.

Also, you can get a point bonus based on what level you are:

So when you reach level 1 (125posts) you may request to receive 30 points, and so on.

Once you reach level 3 you may download any program for only 1 point - only highly respected members can achieve this rank.


How do I download programs????

Downloads can be found in the Download Section

Every program costs a certain number of points.

Using the download section
Go to the Download Section

To get to the programs, click the store called: Neopets Related Downloads

Inside, the store should look something like this:



Your Cash: How many points you have

Item: The name and description of the program
Amount: How many are in stock. For example, if there are 40 in stock, then the program can be bought 40 times before it is sold out.
Price: how many points the program costs to download.

Buying a program

In front of each program, you'll notice there is a white textbox. Enter the amount you want to buy in the textbox for the program you want to download. You can only buy an item if you have enough points for it.

For example, if I wanted to buy 1 copy of the Igloo Autobuyer, I would enter 1 into the textbox



Then scroll down to the very bottom of the page and hit 'Buy Items'

Great, you just bought a program!

Note: You only need to buy 1 copy of an item. After you download it you may use it unlimited times.

Downloading the Program

After you've bought a program, you'll need to download it to be able to use it. All downloaded items will show up in Your Programs - so head there.

It will look similar to this:



To download the program, click 'Use Item' next to the program you want to download.

It will popup a window with the download link.



Now download it!

Using Programs

Before using any programs be sure to read:
READ THIS BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD ANY PROGRAMS!

If you need help with a program, ask about it in the programs thread. There is a thread for every program, so there is no point in making another one. Also, be sure to include as much detail as possible, such as any error codes you may be getting. This makes it easier for others to help you.

To most of us, it's easy but some people still have a bit of trouble (looks at the spammers).

 

When you get rewards for posting, you'll have to expect some spammers though
