So yeah i went hunting yesterday, first time i've actually got a one shot kill. I saw a couple of kangaroos in the scrub eating. I went closer and they ran/hopped away. I followed them, one stayed back to see what it was following them, i decided to have a crack at him, loaded up with my .208 calibre centrefire rifle and looked through the scope. Lined up its head and squeezed the trigger. Dropped him on the spot. Upon closer inspection, the bullet went through its neck.

Happy is me. To all those who are like :O YOU SHOT A KANGAROO?!?!?? In outback Australia, kangaroos are wild and pests. They eat crops and feed which takes away from being able to fatten up sheep and cattle etc. So we shoot them... I would have taken a photo but i didnt have my phone with me :(

    Niiice..

Where I go out we're not allowed to shoot the roo's.
We go off some guys farm... He can't be bothered rounding up the goats for $13 a head (i think that's what they go for ATM) so he doesn't care if we shoot them.

I've had one in my sight before... very tempted to take the shot. But It didn't seem fair for two reasons.

    1. It was only like 50m away.
    2. Don't want to get the guy in trouble...

you shoulda had a go anyway, not much chance of anybody finding it by the time it rots. Depends on the location of the farm though i suppose. My uncles is basically in the middle of nowhere

Yeah give it a night and the foxes would eat all the evidence :p

Maybe if it was more than 50m.. But it seemed too of an easy shot.

Roo is an awesome tasting meat for anyone who has never eaten it.

Roo is a very lean meat mainly muscle so its a good eat. It's got a richer taste than beef... A must try for anyone who visits Australia.

Roo's are pretty quick... When they start hopping their top speed is quick. I don't knwo what speed exactly in MPH or KPH but fast!!

EDIT!: Foxes are smaller, so always gonna look faster o_O

    Not bad, not bad..

I go hunting with a mate occasionally and he uses a rifle - unfortunately, he never gets a one shot, or even a three shot kill and you feel sorry for the kangaroo.

I, myself, use a PSE X-force compound bow to take them down. One shot with a spider broad head is usually enough to debilitate it until a killshot, or kill it sometimes. But 50m is pretty much my limit with a bow - anything further and I'd have to change where I shot.. even at 350 fps.

    Where do you hunt?

This again proves that we, humans, are fighting nature instead of protecting it o_O

But no worries, cuz nature is gonna win in the end :|
