Hey all I've got a kick but computer but I am wondering how I would go about over clocking my CPU and or graphics cards.

For my CPU I have the:
Intel Quad Core 2.4 GHZ Q6600

    And Graphics:
    Nivida Geforce GTX 285

How do I over clock either of these, safely?

Not if you know what you're doing, and only increase the clock speeds in minor increments at a time.

For your video card, if it's an eVGA, they have a nice little utility that comes with any of the cards drivers DVD. It's called eVGA Precision. Once inside there, you will see your Core Clock, Shader Clock, Memory Clock, etc.
You can link them which auto-adjusts to the optimal settings.
WARNING: DO NOT GO FOR MAX SPEEDS RIGHT OFF THE BAT!!!! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!

You're going to have to find some performance charts as well, because really, if you overclock and don't know what you're doing, you're going to fry your CPU, or GPU.

For Processors it's different. You're going to have to go into your BIOS Settings, then your CPU Settings. You'll be able to select a speed multiplier depending on your motherboard. Newer models generally have overclock settings build in that you can select from, older models you have to change your voltages, clock speed, etc, all independently.
You're going to need to find some good guides to do it, Tomshardware.com is a good place for them.

I would go into more detail, but I'm pressed for time right now. Feel free to PM me.
