i'm interested in learning java...

    would it be recomendable to learn java if i wanted to program something to get some points? :p

    no, vb6 or scar is the way to go. You only get rep if you program. I would learm some scar then vb6 NOT vb.net I could help you in vb like codeing and getting it. I don't see any neo programs in java. Hope I helped

    Programming isn't something you pick up in a week to get points. Learning how to program well can take years, hundreds of dollars worth of books and a lot of time.

    that is not true ;) ....and I probably wouldn't suggest Java, since it's a bit slower than other languages....

    java is used for clients and stuff. SCAR or Vb6 is the way to go. As the_skip said, DON'T TRY VB.NET! It's alot more complicated, and we're all on the same page with VB6!

    The only thing it may be slower than is c++, and I highly doubt anyone could find an application where the speed of java becomes a limit. Even the slowest programming languages come to tens of thousands of operations a second.
