My beloved Valencia guitar is now broken I installed my A/C 2 days ago and the low temperature combined with low humidity shrank the metal strings and broke the bridge. I didn't touched the guitar in the past days so I didn't noticed the string were too tight. The glue held just fine... so fine infact that it ripped a hole on the surface wood. Can't afford a new guitar right now. That sucks !
Seeing that some wood came of the guitar, I doubt it. I don't want to try to fix it and then find out that I can't tune it properly. Tonight's gonna be a long night without music :|
The Valencia is back !!!! I did alot of research on the net, and gathered all the infos I needed to fix it. Since this guitar is cheap-ish, I decided to try to fix it, telling myself that even in the worst case scenario, it wouldn't be worse than what it was. Alot of sanding, filling and carpenter's glue later, it's usable again ! I switched back to nylon strings (altought I really do prefer metal string) and I'm quite surprised by the result. I lost a bit of sound clarity on the smaller strings, but I think it's more the nylon strings that give me this impression. Anyway, I was too happy not to share it
