Okay, so literally, five minutes go my dad brought our desktop back from the repair shop. I looked up a registry key for a program. I clicked on the first site on google...
-Removed by your loving moderator Hally. Let's not link users to the virus :p -
^ The link served more as a warning than anything else. Haha but okay.

The stupid (download) link. >.> My gut told me "Hey, this is so stupid. Don't click download. forreal, don't click it. something about this site looks weird."
So I said to my gut "Shuttup gut, I want my code!"

.... This is the most annoying virus ever. o_O My system try and icon bar thingy at the bottom KEEP DISAPPEARING. ;-; And I can't run Trend Micro because it just shows up as UfNavi... Any ideas on how to fix this?

Start your computer up in Safe Mode and fix w/e your problem is.
To start you computer up in Safe Mode, press F5 (might be F8, I forgot :p) when the computer is booting (before the Windows splash screen)

Best bet would be to do a clean reformat if you have your installation disc (Windows XP, etc). I wouldn't backup any files thats already on an infected computer just in case those files became infected as well, so you might have to forsake any file that's on your computer just to be safe.

Upload the file you downloaded to virustotal, detect what virus it is and then download one of the many fixes there will be from Symantec or any other antivirus site.

The task bar dissipates every five seconds or so and if I have anything to do with files open, their closes whenever the task bar shows up again... Running an AVG scan. I'll see if that works.

Agreed. Checking virus total and getting a fix would be the best course of action. You need to know if this virus is a Key Logger or anything. If it is a keylogger, all of your "private" information is now not so private. Good luck,

I say just flat out reformat. You never know if there's any other virues in your computer. They might have make the one that messes with your tray and icon bar to be detectable on purpose and then install a hidden encrypted keylogger. Just reformat to be on the safe side.

Are you saying people should reformat their computer every week/month? LOL?! Dude, an AntiVirus is the best way to go. AVG free and Avast! Anti Virus are good for PC's. And they are free ^^.

No? I never said that in my previous post. If you reformat clean, you're sure you won't have any more viruses and etc. You shouldn't need to reformat again in a really long time unless you're stupid enough to get more viruses. I don't know how you get your viruses frequently, but I rarely get any, if none in a year. AntiViruses doesn't pick up EVERY VIRUS that your computer might be infected with.

That's terrible advice to be completely honest. Make a very, very wise investment and get yourself some AntiVirus software. I personally use Trend Micro AntiVirus and love it. :yup:

I get quite paranoid so I just reformat. Better to be safe than sorry. If you tend to reformat that much and don't want to waste time, then just make a back up cd restore to when you first reformated.
