Well, Bush is out and Obama is in. Today will be a day that's remembered for eternity. We all have hope and entrust Obama to bring America back to it's prime. I haven't heard the speech just yet but I can only imagine how well thought out and put together it is. Are you excited?

    Re: Innaguration Day

I'm excited for his inauguration. If I didn't have a conference shortly, I'd be downstairs staring at the TV like everyone else. I mean, of course there's the whole "this shows the progression of our closeminded society" aspect of it, but it's not even just that. I genuinely think that Obama will do a good job, and the world really needs it at this point in time.
I think that it would be so exhilerating to be there, and I'm not even American.
I plan on watching it as soon as possible - he's a great speaker and has a way of pulling people in with words. I think that it's a great quality.

And I like his car. :)

I even watch it on TV, there´s currently a report about
Obamas speech and the white house.
I just can say that I really hope that Obama can
correct all faults that bush made in recent years,
if I may say so. I really trust in his competency.
Bush really ran america down, and until today I
can´t believe the what he did in all these years.
it´s sad, but this is another topic...

I'll always want the Democrats to win but to be honest I don't think Obama will be remembered as a great president other than the fact he's the first black president. It kind of worries me that people have given him this super hero status there is no way he can live up to the hype and no way he can fix all of the problems that America has at the moment. I'm not being pessimistic just realistic.

    Re: Innaguration Day

mhmm I fully agree in his symbolism as the first black president, and I can't deny he has an amazing charisma about him
words are great, words can be powerful, my greatest strength and passion is language and words
but words can also be cheap
he's shown us that he can talk the talk, lets see if he can handle the other 90%, actually changing things
I'm not trying to bag on him; like I said he seems like he has what it takes to be an amazing leader; I just hope that the hype isn't premature. Wait to see if he lives up to that hype before worshiping him as a god.

well, you had that wave of lawsuits that where against him for not being a US citizen... I still don't think he was born in the us... and not even to say, he thought there were 57 us states... i think he has a good idea, but i don't expect him to carry through with much of it... i personally think hes just gona make things worse, but we'll see...

His speech also wasn't very impressive...it was nice, but blunt. Not nearly as eloquent as he usually is. But it's not like I cared :p I'm just glad he's still alive and I hope he gets to make some good changes

I watched it. It was nice. Except Aretha Franklin sounded soooooo bad! It was absolutely terrible. Other than that, I was amazed by the huge turnout of people.

I thought it went well. I don't think he's going to live up to all the expectations placed on him, but I think he will do a very good job.

No. John Roberts (supreme court chief justice who swore in Obama) messed up. So then Obama was like wtf and paused for Roberts to fix is his mistake.

I watch the inauguration day stuff on tv for 5 out of my 8 periods of school. It was fun; we did nothing today.

Even in France it was really exciting, people from all over the world are expecting Obama to do something about the crisis. In France a lot of people believe he is going to help but I don't think he will be willing to help this much abroad. The US is his priority I guess.

    We are doooomed lol

Yea it was Roberts who messed up.

Obama was like "Uh i have this memorized you dolt." in his head, so he just said what the oath was supposed to be. Do you guys really think Obama would screw up? That's a Bush thing to do.

    Re: Innaguration Day

I really want to make a joke here, but I'm not going to bother saying it. If you'd appreciate the joke, you'll get it without me having to say anything.

I was chilling in Russian Lit, (which is what all the cool kids do these days) and we were talking about Dostoevsky and his Marxist writing style (which I think is more existentialist/romanticist, but that's beside the point) and I just had these random thoughts about why Obama is such a good speaker. I completely covered my arm in notes (only half of which I can read) on the subject.
It all links back to early existentialist writers (mostly Rousseau, especially cause he starts out with "my fellow citizens" instead of "my fellow Americans" or whatever) and how, instead of speaking like he has a point to prove and like everything has to be an argument, he just goes into some kind of rhetoric and, like, creates this group of people out of nowhere and then cuts them down before they even happen. I don't know, it makes sense in my head. It's all about the disbelief and the details.

I wanted Bush out of office a long time ago and Obama in. Bush got to be a complete idiot for like 2 years and is like Iraq and lets go kills some more innocent American troops.
