You understand how many system resources would an inbox of 1000 messages require per user? Either for the space and for the time it'd take to perform a query in the MySQL table of PMs.

Are you kidding me? 1000 PMs is ridiculous.
I get a crapload of PMs too, but I rarely go over 50. What I do is regularly clean out my Inbox of old/useless mail. After a trade has finished for a week or so, there's no need to keep a record. If you're done helping someone out, just delete the messages.

If you absolutely insist on keeping a record, just export your PMs.

The lord as spoken !!!
I do exactly like Zer0, when the trade is done and 2 weeks have passed, I usually delete the pm.

You know you can export them en masse, right?

And also, most other forums give you WAY less. Something like 100 for inbox and outbox combined. I thought we were doing pretty well. We aren't gmail after all.

You do realize that once you reach 250, your old-too old to even matter-PMs are automatically deleted right? Which is so much more convenient than other forums where once you reach like 50 or 100, you have to delete them by hand.

    lol <3

Yes, Advanced member status was 500 message (inbox+outbox=500) , and to get to advanced you needed 500 posts.
