Is it against the rules to "artificially inflate" the value of a pet?

For example, you have something like a peach chia. You stage it so you're trading the chia on the pound chat boards. Then on a side account (or you get an actual friend to help you) you stage a trade. Like on the side you go "OMG I REALLY WANT THIS PET I'LL GIVE YOU ____ (any higher valued pet)." Then you stage the trade (provided you already have the other type of pet species.

Is this completely pointless? Or do you think if you did this enough other PC people would start to think that the trading value for these pets was actually whatever you were pretending to trade for?

Actually after writing all of this up, I kind of believe this is pointless LOL... anyway what do you guys think?

Yes its against neopets rules. Not ours.

And I don't think it'd work. They'd get used to the same name moving around ;)

Unfortunately it is but as Junior said people will get suspicious of it , and i can't see you gaining much out of trading a pet :p

It is pretty pointless. People would probably assume that that person happened to adore Peach Chias, or fell in love with the name, or some other thing like that that'd just be written off as an oddity.

Yeah, it would really give you no advantage.
and the same pet being traded like weekly would catch some people eyes

EDIT: And, if someone says "OMG I REALLY WANT THIS PET" why would they trade it again.
    That would be increibly suspicious

Most people will actually check up the value of the pet before buying, so like Anfan said, they'll just assume that the person has some innate fascination with peach chias.

I mean, unless this was done on a really large scale, like if you had quite a few people working on it with you it probably wouldnt work... Pet values really fluctuate a lot, so if you get a bunch of accounts/friends looking for your peach chia, and making a really big deal about it, the 'value' of the chia could rise enough to get you a good trade. People would see demand for the chia, and maybe be more interested in trading higher. No matter what, I doubt youd be able to make any significant market changes without a lot of backup. Even then, they wouldnt be permanent. Just long enough to get you something nice.

I think it depends on what you're trying to do, what end result youre looking for...

Trade a peach chia for an UC draik/krawk? No way.

Trade a peach chia for a dreamie of a bit higher value? Thats possible.

This would only work if there were already people who wanted the pet but did not know the value of it. This way you're able to artificially set the market value because you have uninformed buyers. Of course, if no one is willing to buy the pet in the first place, then setting a price for it will make no difference.

LOL, not only might it not work, you might get frozen because that's pretty obviously illegit.
