I havent gotten any map pieces in random events or otherwise since I completed the labmap when it cost about 300K I suppose the possibility of the avatars you can get out of it drives it up so much.

The prices have gone up in the last little while, the lowest pieces in November cost around 50K and now they are around 5K higher.

It looks like one piece of the lab maps will eventually be over 100K. It's gone up 10 k in 2 months

It's pretty simple. Neopets 4 years ago was all the rage and every kid I knew was on it.

Lab maps are primarily given out as random events.

Fewer users... fewer random events, so as the number of people going to the site gets smaller... the fewer lab maps will be handed out.

I remember when you could get neggs and dubloons randomly...

I've been back on for about 2 months now, and I've never got one in a random event... hence supply and demand.

I also think some of the lab maps are more common than the others...thats why some are 50-60 and others are up over 80k each.

You need the full secret lab map (the one for pets) first. Once you have that one, you'll be able to gain access to the petpet lab. I made a guide about the maps. You can read it here : http://www.neofriends.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3615

Whoa... did it actually work? Sure looks like it. Your Petpet has been transformed. Imagine that.

Hmmmm wonder if I can transform the petpet into a pet in the fungus cave

Edit: Damm I hate when I answer my own question. "Nope"

No, you can't. That would be unfair to the people who pay millions for the pet.

That's ok, It's the first time that has happened and I already a Krawks and Draiks

As far as being fair... if I am not mistaken the lab map can change them too tho I've never gotten a krawk that way

Meh. The priced of lab maps aren't stable. Last time one went above 100k in value, Tarla started giving it away! X(

Yeah, but it's really rare to get a draik or a krawk from the lab ray

The problem with this is that in addition to a lower supply, a smaller number of players also means a lower demand.

I think it has more to do with the fact that neo-help sites tend to make the lab map out as the greatest thing since sliced neobread. A lot of people who really shouldn't be wasting their np on lab access are, simply because the big sites tell them they should.

I don't know about the price being all that expensive. If you think they are a one time investment and you can use the Lab Ray forever, it's still a lot cheaper than codestone or dubloons.

I still don't regret getting the lab map on my accounts alhough when I got them I payed less than 45k for the full set
