So yeah, I'm starting early this year. I was really happy with last year's Halloween costume, but I kept thinkingI could improve it. If you haven't seen it, check the spoiler.
So for Enlightened 1.0 I used about 2x20 feet el wire. The main problem was that I couldn't remove my shoes since they were connected to the pants by the wire. This year, each shoe on 2.0 is given 10ft el wire with it's own battery back that will probably be embedded within the sole for comfort. I've also ordered another 20ft el wire for the jacket so that the jacket will have a total of 40ft el wire and the pants 20ft. Althogether this will make 80ft (24m) of glowing 2.2mm thread driven by 5 battery packs. I'm also adding a pair of gloves to the costume.

Now that we got all the math sorted out, I'm interested in suggestions on where I should use this thread. I don't want to put anything that ressembles pictures or text, but I would appreciate patterns or different parts of the clothes that you think could look good highlighted by the el wire.

The reason I'm starting so early with my costume is because the art school I'm going to is sort of famous for it's Halloween parties, and I want to dress for success. ;)

Heh... Could always outline the wonders parts of a female body... XD

Or, try to make it follow a basic bone line?

Yeah, but I don't want it to look like a pimped version of a traditional costume (like a skeleton one). The medium is electricity and I want to embrace that in the lines, rather than make references to what it is not. Keeping the essence of the medium sort of speak.

Wow, that sounded really pretentious. :|

Probably too hard to do it for El wire, but some simple circuit board design on your back?

That is definitely a good way to make a creative costume. lol.
You could always make an angry face mask with it?

Hmm, I guess I could use circuit boards as an inspiration for the pattern, but as I said, I want the patterns to be more abstractthan naturalistic.

Phee, the idea for the suit is already inspired by TRON and Daft Punk ;)

Yakooza, el wire = electrolumniscent wire. It's a thin thread embedded in plastic which glows when electricity flows through it. There's a variety of colours, I'm going for purpleish. =)

Rundownandy-> My initial idea was to add a mask, but after going as the King of All Things two years ago, I'm tired of having things in my face. :p I might use some glow in the dark makeup though, if I can find the right colour =)

Hmm what about square-ish glasses frames made from el wire? I wouldn't recommend glow-in-the-dark makeup, usually it won't glow very brightly and can sweat off and when diluted sort of cheapens the whole look.
