Keeping secrets is a known thing but the secret being kept can be minor or horrific. A horrific ones is about AIDS. Certain people knew it could be contained but decided not to tell anyone because it would cause a "widespread panic". Could speaking up had left AIDS from becoming widespread?Who knows. People keep personal family secrets. Something bad in the past or a truth that was to remain hidden because of what it would mean ( your parents aren't biological, etc). Countries might hold back on information to get backing in it endeavors. When is a secret not worth keeping or is it worth it to just let sleeping dogs lie? My stand is if it affects someone else in a big or minor way then it should be told unless you know the secret will lead to the person being reckless and this is known for a fact.
I definitely agree. If it affects someone else then it should be told, especially if it's health related and people are at risk.
Alright, I'm not sure what program I was watching but the program explained that aids was a small threat. The government knew about it and could have kept the people they found to be infected under quarantine. Instead of doing that, they acted as if nothing was wrong and didn't tell the genral public out of fear of widespread panic. They concluded that it was limited to " the gay community" although that is not where the disease originates. That's where the whole gay=aids thing started which is completely crazy. Anyhow, the aids virus started spreading rapidly because people where doing things without knowing they were infected, intimacy and substances. It did not really become a big deal until the disease started getting any and everyone but this could have been fixed it they would have said something instead of worrying about the outcome. Also, they say aids was found on the skeleton of a monkey that is believed to be the oldest case, which to me, implies it is man-made ( animal experimentation gone wrong, etc).
I believe that it is a felony or crime to be infected with aids/hiv and not tell your partner. At least here in the US. I mean... I agree with it. Because STDs wouldnt be such a huge thing if people were aware. Got themselves and their partner tested. And made a decision based on the results AND I HATE THOSE STUPID HERPES COMERCIALS "we're being careful" I mean. You are sleeping with someone who has herpes... you are going to get it eventually no matter how careful you are. In fact... they may think they are free of the disease... But sometimes it can take YEARS after infection to show any symptoms or even test positive. Same goes for HIV and aids.
That would require that we tested ourselves like once a month. I was unfortunate once and got scabies, not from sex but just from sleeping in the same bed as a friend who had it (neither of us knew that she had it), and nothing happened until two months later. At that time I had already passed it on to my girlfriend who had passed it on to half her family (since it can spread even when you use the same towels). Now I had no reason to test myself, but I still managed to get one. So I don't think we really could get rid of them, although less people would have it passed on to them.
Id spread as much as I could. AIDS is there to be spread otherwise people like i m weasel wouldnt have brought it to north america and gave it to mexicans like king taco.
This has kind of gone off topic, but a theory was that humans caught AIDS, a form of HIV, from chimpanzees. The strain is called SIV, standing for Simian immuno deficiency. This might have been when a graft from a chimpanzee was then transferred to a human, or possibly from the consumption of chimpanzee flesh in Africa. I doubt it was animal experimentation gone wrong. But the spread of AIDS may not have been just because of people keeping secrets. The way it was transferred was not known back when it was first diagnosed. And keeping secrets is only a matter of morale. Harmless secrets, like who somebody likes, might not be any problem to keep. But if some friend tells you that he's gonna do something that's gonna hurt people, then you'd definitely consider keeping that a secret or not.
If you're keeping a secret that, if you told about, would prevent a risk to people, I say you're doing something wrong. Some secrets, such as various national security concerns, should be kept however, or else I imagine world affairs would be a lot different. (Can you imagine if our government disclosed how to get into the most top-secret areas? Or maybe into a missile silo?)
