    Seeing as how a broken hand sidelines me from working this summer and I have some free time I thought it would be a good idea to learn the basics of a coding language.

    Im looking for opinions on which would be the best to learn to be able to make my own webpage or perhaps to make a program for this site...

    Im not too high on scar....

    (Wants to learn something that could have more uses than just neopets, although im not saying i wouldnt like to learn how to code a neo program)

    Your suggestions for both categories would be appreciated.

    this website is coded in php so for a website that is a very good language
    for programs for neo (and other things) vb6 and vb.net are good languages with easily codable gui's
    c+ and c are also good languages as are python and pascal but are far far harder to code in and are a lot more of a challenge
    perl and java could do a job but i wouldn't really recommend them to you

    VB and c++ are good to start off with. Then maybe PHP, HTMl, and SQL preferably HTML first

    the vb part i agree with, but starting c++ as your first language, it will be very hard, and takes months and months to master, i say start with vb, it is extremely easy.

    html isnt really a programming language, you need to know js to actually make it dynamic. anyways, some good langs to learn (not all at once, one at a time) are

    VB (to get the basic idea of programming)
    C#
    C++
    Java
    PHP

    And those are your programming languages... if you are into web programming, go with php and java first, but if you want to program applications c++ is a must.

    just a recommendation, php is supposed to be harder than vb, so you should get used to the idea of programming with vb first, and .net is a little more complex but if you think its worth the extra speed, go with that.
