My laptop is a little over a year old, and I don't know if it's because it's a bit heated up right now, but sometimes when I open folders {any}, it's always stuck at "Windows Explorer" and it won't open anything. Even just normal document folders. AVG runs a virus scan every night and it hasn't found anything so far. Could it be spy ware that is making my computer sluggish and what not?
is your hard drive full? Clean temp files, they clog vital resorces. Search for bad sectors & defrag your HD Ask me when im sober or not falling asleep Most of the time, windows not responding is a resorce problem.
Temp files as in..for browsers or what? So I don't know what can be wrong. How can I tell where are the bad sectors, etc? I usually handle my computer pretty well but there are still some places that I need to figure out.
Run Disk Cleaner (I think that's what its called, its under start>accessories>systools or something) Then run Disk defrag If still sluggish, there are some other stuff you can do... i can help some more when i get back...
Ohh okay! Thanks Zer0 You're the worst! Oh yeah..just now I tried clearing my recycle bin..but it was stuck during the process...always stuck at 20 seconds :/ And when I press cancel it's stuck at "Canceling" right now. ARG! I'm scared that I let some weird stuff slip in without knowing.
Try this: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/ Run the normal cleaner then run the registry fix. I have a feeling your issue is within your registry; but if not, just store all your junk on a USB stick and reformat.
Thats always a good plan it has lots of settings too dont foget to view things that startup witht the computer anything that you dont recognise google and act acordingly. If all else fails try creating a new user and see if the problem stays the same if it doesnt just transfer files and settings
I use spybot to scam my computer. CNET recommends these program. http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search- ... 22137.html Smart Defrag which reduce the lag on my computer by clearing out fragmented files. http://download.cnet.com/Smart-Defrag/3 ... 59533.html
Honestly, when things like this happen to me, I just reformat...It clears up all the problems and you have a chance to reorganize all your things and keep your stuff neat.
^ I'm looking for reasons WHY it's doing that. Which is why running scans help me diagnose what the problem is, I don't want to fix the problem without knowing why and reformatting is an uneducated way of doing just that, which is a big no no and what I would have done when I was in like, grade 5 :S
