Large and Overpriced Neopian Shops

I was wondering, do large shops owned by old members of neopets earn any profit at all since all their items are totally overpriced? I mean, who would buy some cap thats around 100np in the shop wizard for 3,000np in that store?

 

It's called malling. They overprice their items and then link with other huge, overpriced stores and make banners and advertise like crazy. They make most of their money from noobs who don't know how to use the shop wizard. Some of them actually make millions in a day. It can be pretty profitable if you know what you are doing.

 

Cool, didn't know about that. But to make millions in a day..there can't be that many noobs right ._.

And they also make a lot off of questers.

 

I was going to point this out.

People often bookmark malls or go to the ads pages to find big malls in order to complete faerie quests, since you can't use the shop wiz.

Because posting takes time.. Time they don't want to spend being stuck on the quest. You'd be surprised, I'm sure they get people to buy their stuff that are over 13.. Sad, but true =(

It's hard being a mall, but if done right you can make tons of NPs.

Upgrading shop size = expensive
Finding the right balance between profit and selling time takes a lot of time

 

Yeah...if you want to get your shop size to 500 that cost well over 20m!

 

my shop size is 55 and ive spent around 400k.. ish just uprgrading it -_- blaaah . it cost alot . D: but i guess since im only 4 months its good .

 

Yeah questers use it a lot I have a few times for that reason exactly!!! So I guess those people can and do make many neopoints. Was thinking about doing it myself but need to make my shop A LOT bigger!

 

Malling is not worth it at all until you invest 10+ mil in it. To actually earn decent profits, you'll need at least 40-50 mil in start-up money.

 

I hate overpriced shops, but sometimes I have to resort to them . like when no one will reply on the boards to my desperate cries for help on a FQ, or when im too lazy to go ssw it on my other account . theyre very smart like that . i tried to make one, but i stopped when i had no money left to upgrade my shop sizes xD
