Just a question I really have been wanting to ask. If it is really illegal, is it really worth downloading it illegaly vs buying a song for 99 cents on the iTunes Store? So a few q's... -Is it illegal -Is it a scam -Are there viruses on it -Do you have to pay to download it -Where can I download it/how large is the application? Thanks, 451
-Is it illegal It depends where you live. I'm too lazy to check your IP and see where. In the states it IS, because you're not only downloading files, you're sharing them for download. -Is it a scam No, it works -Are there viruses on it YES. There are tons of "Fake" songs and programs and stuff on it, that are malicious. -Do you have to pay to download it No. -Where can I download it/how large is the application? Dont bother downloading it. As an evil music purist, I don't believe that you should listen to songs without enjoying the entire album. Also, i hate limewire because stuff comes out formatted badly if you want the artist name and album name etc. on an ipod or itunes. If you find an album you want, just google "<album name> rapidshare", and download off rapidshare. Probs faster than torrents and stuff. If you want to listen to a single song a few times, use grooveshark. Www.grooveshark.com. it has nearly every song ever, you don't download them, they stream through grooveshark's flash interface. And you can make and save playlists and stuff. No viruses ever, and always good audio quality.
You're getting songs for free so unfortunately yes it is illegal =\ But since so many people illegally download stuff it's a bit hard to get caught. Nope it's not a scam you can pay for limewire pro but there is little point and if you really want limewire pro you can probably download it illegally free on limewire xD I assume you can get viruses from limewire but if you make sure you only download mp3/mp4 files you should be good. It's not a massive application just google limewire I'm quite sure it's limewire.com you download it from. I personally think Limewire is well worth the risk in Britain you have to pay 75p per track and that sure adds up if you want a half decent Itunes library. Edit//x Curse you Hally beat me to it xD I'm so OCD about song names and track listing I've spent days making my itunes perfect xP
All of what Hallandale(EDIT: and Fendi) said is true. Another method of downloading songs you want is google(computers-and-technology-f9/using-google-to-get-mp3-files-t23618.html) or YouTube(http://www.mediaconverter.org)...both will come up with most songs. Good luck.
i say its worth it, because im poor and cant afford 99 cents X 300 songs. id much rather get something like say groceries.
I remember reading somewhere that a song format cannot be infected with a virus (Don't know why). So as long as you download songs only, you should be virus free. (I think)
but you lose quality... If you want the best quality, pay the 99 cents, if you don't care if the quality is just a tad off, then use limewire... i've used it for yeas, no viruses or anything... if i really like the song and want it in super perfect quality, i'll buy it, but other wise, limewire to the rescue
Limewire, I use all the time. Unless you search applications, you won't get viruses or malware. I suggest that it's pretty good, so it's worth it for me.
As for youtube downloaders like "GetTube"- If you do watch in high quality or customize your sound in safari advanced preferences you don't loose that much quality. --- So it's only illegal in some states?
I was almost positive they made it legal as long as you don't sell/profit from the downloaded music The argument was that it's the same as someone buying a CD and then lending it to someone But maybe that's just where I live...or maybe I'm just insane... And on topic, limewire's worth it, not a scam, usually safe unless you're stupid and download the files more or less titled "virus", and you download it from limewire.com I dunno what the hooblah is about the pro version but the regular one works fine for me
Maybe I should have made a poll if I should download it or not :-/ So there are two versions? Do you have to pay for Pro or is it like a trial thing?
You pay for pro but it's not worth it I only mentioned it because you asked if you had to pay for limewire which you don't. Your on a mac as well right? If your super lazy (like me) Download Cabos it works better with macs I think, it's way quicker for me than limewire and after it's downloaded you just have to double click and it goes straight into your Itunes library =] Cabos uses the same library thing (wow technical talk) as limewire it's just a different programme.
Limewire Pro is still illegal, is it not? Because you're still not paying for each individual song and the artist isn't getting any money. I don't have limewire, because of the small risk of viruses. I use a website (file2hd.com). You can put in their myspace url and get song from their. No viruses, since they obviously wouldn't put an infected song on their official myspace.
I used Limewire for a long time and recently uninstalled it and couldn't be happier. I would say, rather than downloading individual songs that are more than likely to contain a virus, be fake, or very low quality, either go buy the songs/cds or start using torrents and get entire albums and just delete what you don't want. Torrents are, in my experience, a lot more safe than Limewire and it's just as easy to get whatever song or cd you're after.
Yes Limewire pro is still illegal it just makes downloading quicker and filters songs better methinks. I quite liked finding MP3 rotation sites online and downloading full albums as well but the rapidshare hint given earlier would be better to use.
I tried using torrents.. Yeah I basically messed my whole computer up and had to reformat it. As for limewire, it's awesome because my bands are normally american based so it's very hard to get the CD or download them anywhere apart from illegally.
Alright, I just downloaded it. Im on a mac.. Can I download programs or no? I only see "Videos" and "Music"... Are all the videos there fakes?
