Not a joke, but I was selling neopoints to this woman a couple of years back and she had spent about £500 GBP over a few transactions, and then got frozen about a month later. So, she opened up a Paypal dispute saying that I had mis-sold because she didn't realise buying NP was against Neopets T&C (which she did) and she wanted all her money back. By this point I had spent the £500 (I had been selling my NP to get a car, which I had bought by then) and was... how to put it politely... er... in a slight panic as to where I was going to find £500 to pay this if Paypal sided in her favour. I emailed her and asked her if I could replace everything instead, but she wasn't having any of it. After about a month, Paypal sided in my favour and she emailed me pretending she hadn't seen the Paypal outcome yet and saying she had changed her mind and would just be happy if I just replaced the NP. I blocked her and enjoyed driving round in my car, knowing that she had paid for half of it :D

yeah you have to wonder if they have any hard decision here. Do you side with the person selling something "wrong" or the person buying something "wrong" that got screwed. hmmmmm.

Tthe fact that I was selling something that was infringing intellectual property rights wasn't Paypal's concern though. All they were interested in really was whether I sent what she had bought and I had. She was saying she didn't know it was against TNT's T&C's, I was saying she did. Their decision was that I had fulfilled my side of the transaction as I had provided what I said I would. It also helped that she didn't file the complaint til over a month after the last transaction.

I know! I couldn't believe it either. It was around November time and she even tried telling me that the items weren't actually for her, but were actually going to be Christmas presents for her kids and that because of me, they wouldn't have anything for Christmas . Well, just call me the Grinch.
