I actually did want them. But not because my teeth are ugly..but because I have an overbite. I hate laughing {not smiling..} cuz my gums would show and I look like a freak.

My dad doesn't wanna pay for them though, not even with his benefits; he thinks i'm bringing up a horribly crazy idea any way.

Does anyone know roughly how much it costs per month to finance it? If it's like a hundred or two I guess it's good....I doubt I need it for long, just to push it back I guess :S Blah..being poor sucks.

Well, for full braces (straightening teeth and all, along with aligning them and such) in the US it's about $4,500.

if you just want to correct overbite, though, maybe you can go bother an orthodontist about just getting turbo biters? (They're these little plastic things they glue on the back of your front teeth; Walter had them for quite a while.)

Hmm...do they let you pay monthly as long as you like?
Or do I have to pay it off in the time I have them?
Some people says it's painful..but it seems they walk around with them every day and they don't seem to bothered.
I guess i'll go with braces...looks like i'll have those weird looking rubber bands.

Oh, yeah. You can either pay all at once or in monthly installments, and your orthodontist is obligated to see you through your braces (and check ups after that to make sure nothing else needs fixing); the one advantage of paying all at once (besides, of course, not having to worry about it later) is that they'll usually give you a 5% discount or something.

They don't hurt at all, except when you get them adjusted (applying more pressure) and, of course, first on. (Sore for quite a couple days afterwards.) That, and that for me, the first night I had braces the next morning they'd cut into the back of my bottom lip; that area never healed until after I got my braces off. =/ (Which kind of sucked, but they'll give you these little thingies full of wax you can use in those scenarios.) When they give you the cherry chew, this little plastic thingy, and tell you to chew on it while you're on the road home or whatever, do it. It seems stupid while you're doing it, but your teeth'll be so much less sore later.

Weird looking rubber bands as in the ones on each bracket, or the ones cross-bracket? The ones that attach to multiple brackets are either power chains (a ton of small rubber bands all connected that evenly space out your teeth), or if they go across your mouth they fix if your bite is off-center, over overbite/underbite. The rubber bands on each bracket hold the wire in; you can also get...I think they're called Damon, but it's like each bracket has a built-in little hinge thing so your braces will just be silver, w/o rubber bands. (That's what I got; it seemed more convenient and I didn't need to bother with choosing rubber band colors. =p)

Haha that's crazy i'll never pay it all off at once. 5500 is a little too much!
Then again if I divide that in 2 years i still pay 300 a month that I might not do.
I heard about the chapped/cut lip problem too.
Thanks! Hope I get them soon. Don't wanna wait too long ~.~

Before you get them look into things like invisalign, aligners, etc. These can cost more or less and can be better or worse. Just look at all your options and see if your student med insurance covers any.

Phee my student med doesn't cover that :/
I'm paying out of my own pocket monthly, using scholarships and bursaries I get every month.

    I have a similar problem.
Here, you get 100% free braces, if your teeth are bad enough.
Mine don't make the cut, but really bother me.
I don't have enough money to get them either. :/
Good luck! I'm totally jealous. :p
