So I decided to get a macbook. And before everybody rants about how it's not worth it, I don't care. I am turning 20 soon so I want something from my parents that I will enjoy for a long time xD

Okay, my question is: which one should I get? I looked at the air 11" but I don't like all the stuff they left out, like CD-rom (even though my current computer actually doesn't have one and I don't need it that much, but it's nice to have)
So I don't think I want an air.

The price really doesn't matter. And I use it mostly for picutres+music storage and internet browsing, but I wouldn't mind getting a computer where I could play the sims flawlessly :'D It's been so long since I've played the sims, so it'd be nice
Is a macbook pro what I should get ? (yes, I assume) . In that case, which model? Does anyone have a macbook, then which one? And do you love it, or do you like pc more?

I have a normal macbook from a few years back, and I can only say that it's amazing. I can't stand slow PCs now.
Anyway, I'd say if you can get a pro. I'm not a very technical person, but I know someone who got one recently and I'm insanely jealous. I personally don't care for the air because the normal macbooks are light enough anyway :yup:

Wow, it still rund fast after a few years? That's interesting since my computers last a year tops xD but I would probably be more careful with a Mac though.. :p

Let me tell you. I don't think there's anything not worth it about it. I run windows 7 just fine on my macbook pro.

I would really recommend looking at the 13" macbook pro for just casual use. It's so portable and durable. Especially if you have a case.

I have a 15" i7 with 8 gigs of ram, and I fucking love it. But some people hate macs. Meh. Mines prettier than any pc, fast as a mother, and I can use windows 7 just fine :)

In all honesty macs have gone downhill a 2008 MacBook is superior to a 2010 MacBook in my opinion just from an overall standpoint. I have the MacBook pro 13 inch but if you can afford it(your parents willing to spend the $) then I would say get th 17 inch because the screen resolution is amazing.

I'm sorry but could you please support this?

I can't see really how they would have "gone downhill". As far as I can tell, they look just as sexy, have better screens, better processors, more RAM capability than before, and a better graphics card if you opt for it...

What I meant to say is while this MacBook Pro isn't a revolutionary update over the 2008 model, it has all the right things in it to make the upgrade worthwhile. Downhill was the wrong word to use.

Never get a 17" laptop. It's a waste. I've had one and it adds unnecessary bulk. Go for either the base model of the 13" or 15". I'f go all out and get the 15", but the 13" is just fine.

I 1000% agree. I have the 15" and it's already big. The 13" is perfect.

Thanks for all the inputs, I appreciate it <3

And yeah, 17" is waay too big. The perfect option would be 11", but since I won't get the air, it's a no go. So I guess I'll go for 13" :)

I went from a Dell laptop to a Macbook Pro 17" last year and I am in love with it now. At first I was upset about switching from PC to Mac, but really it's easy getting used to.

I would say you should definitely go for a Macbook Pro 15" or 13". My 17 is nice for playing computer games, watching movies, and editing things in photoshop/after effects, but it's kind of hard to carry around since it's heavy and not a good size for being on my lap in class to take notes since it's so big.

My dad has a macbook air (the first generation kind) and I don't like it too much. I mean sure it's super small/light easy to carry around but it feels like you can't do much on it and it doesn't have enough RAM to have a bunch of windows open at once. It just seems more fragile.

well, after using a PC, and switching to Mac, you would never ever want to go back to a PC. because pc have way too many buggs and programs you got to install and this. With a mac, most of the programs are with the computer.

Yeah and I began to hate PCs ever since win98 and 2000 became outdated. With vista and windows 7 they're just crap now.

The only good thing from microsoft is microsoft word lol

Even with word, I've learned to use Apple's version which is Pages and other office programs Mac-ified and it works just as well as Word.
It's just annoying having to press "export" if you save anything that you may open on a windows computer though...
