As the update version indicates you could be talking about potentially dozens of previous versions of MSN. Your best bet to finding your old version would be to do a computer search for any files containing the name "MSN" or possibly "Messengar" and if luck prevails you should be able to find the msn installer that you used the first time. Uninstall the existing copy and reinstal using your old installer.

If that doesn't work and you can't locate your old installer then I suggest you do the following:
Go onto google.com and start searching through google images for every version of MSN until you find an image of the MSN client that fits the one you were using. So google:
    MSN2.5
    MSN2.6
    MSN2.7
etc. There are however I believe sub releases and updates of MSN which would leave a version tag such a 2.521 in which case you would be really out of luck. But googling images of the version you think it might be would be your best bet. You don't sound too old so I'd probably start at MSN 6.0 and work my way up to MSN 8.4 since those would be your best bet. When you find an image that matches the one you think was the MSN you owned. If there is no images of that MSN version then I guess your up shit creak.

If you get the version ID, then either check out a warez forum such as warez-bb.org or projectw.org since a lot of users have uploaded in the past versions of MSN to upload sites such as rapidshare.com and they could still exist. If that fails then perhaps try a torrent site since it's possibly someone would still be sharing it somewhere in the world.

If all that fails then I really don't care.
