This dog has been with me since for more than half my life.
It ran away this morning apparently while I was out.
Our house is in a pretty metropolitan area with heaps of human traffic, cars buses etc so its a pretty dangerous place for a dog..
I went around asking the nearby places and at the local dog-park one of the locals told me in my area theres been dog-thieves known. Like if they see a small dog on the street, they take them and sell it. :|
That makes me very fuckin nervous.
Fuck, besides from putting up posters, what can I do?
Do you genuinely think theres much chance in finding her again, we just moved to this new place so she (my dog) wouldn't be familiar with any of the surroundings..

Try putting ads in papers or something. Most papers have places for lost and found. Also, try asking radio stations if they could do a kind of lost dog thing saying what it looks like, what it answers to etc. Things like that so people can see/hear it even if they don't see the posters you put up.

If there's a dog catcher, go find him or her. You also have to give out fliers to people who work at places that may attract dogs. The fliers should mention some sort of a reward for the safe return of your dog.

Aw, I'm so sorry. I would suggest regularaly checking your local dog pound/humane society to see if your dog turns up there.

Aw I'm so sorry! Besides what's already mentioned, fliers, pounds, newspaper ads etc., you could also put up a notice on craigslist.

    Did he/she have tags?

Sorry to hear about that, bro :( Don't give up hope. Crazier things have happened than someone finding a lost dog after a few days.... you can definitely get lucky. Good luck to you

Keep checkin local papers for the lost & found and also put in an article in the lost & found and maybe put a little reward/tip for your dog, this way if there was a thief theyll probably return. And put fliers up by local food places, dogs will probably go there because of the strong scent once they get hungry.

    that's awful.
i agree with what has already been said but also keep an eye on your door. dogs have a great sense of direction, if it's out there it'll probably try to come back. i can't tell you how many times one of my dogs ran away and i went out searching for hours only to come home and see her waiting on the doorstep. :p

also call up any local golf courses and ask them to keep watch

hahahahahah funny post. If you really wanted to find him, your best chances will be through the local newspaper, with a hefty reward. Make sure to teach him a lesson when he returns. Thatll teach him never to run away again :maha:

I will do that. CAUSE SHE JUST CAME BACKK!!!
After 10 whole days of wondering the suburban streets shes never been to. At 11pm at night i was just sitting outisde the house for like 5 minutes for some fresh air. I just saw her like walk past on the opposite side of the street. After about like a 10 minute chase over 3 streets (and probaly a suburb or two :D ) I finally caught her. Shes here with me now.

She thanks you all and so do I.

great now i sound like one of those creeps which like dress up their pets in clothes and call it cute names. But still!

IM FUCKING STOKED. YOU WERE RIGHT WHEN YOU SAID MIRACLES HAPPEN.
its had like the coldest raining weather the last 10 days aswell.. I swear to god someone must have taken her in cause she smells like shes just had a bath or something :)

Hhehehe. Im ranting now, but just thanks to everyone who helped out with suggestions and just generally caring. I would +rep you all right now if i could :tehe:
Came over and throw the frisbee with her anytime you wanna guys

One time, when I was a little 'un, my guinea pig ran under my neighbour's house and I couldn't get it back. So i released my other guinea pig to fetch it ( I was a kid then)
It was pretty amazing, but within a few hours they were both back in my yard, grazing on the lawn!

A short film from a dog's perspective. Beautifully narrated, fun but subtle.
