Alright, so you want to know more about the battledome? This guide is for you.

    1.About the battledome(BD)

Basically, a battledome is as good as a Player VS Enemy or a Player VS Player arena. Using pet's stats, abilities and weapons, players can fight in the battledome to reduce their opponents HP to 0.

    PROs of the BD
    +Fun
+Can take part in various wars for spiffy trophies
+One of the biggest community in Neopets
    +Challenging

    CONs of the BD
-Wars HARDLY give anything really nice as rewards, with a few exceptions
-Super costly, BD items are especially prone to inflation(like the h400 helmet it has risen from 700k to 7mill NOW)
-Need to be super committed to make some serious impact

    2.Pet resistances

Choosing a pet species for your battledome can help! For example, pteris are resistant to air attacks(covered later). Some species also have skills and weapons only they can use! Check them out here http://idb.finalhit.org/species

    3.Pet stances

In the battledome, you will start of with stances that u can use while in battle. These stances work as attack multipliers to your damage output(NOTE: When your pet attack POWER bar is at 0, it will end up with no multiplier)[IMG]

    # Improved defend - 70%
    # Defend - 80%
    # Cautious attack - 100%
    # Normal attack - 120%
    # Jump and attack - 130%
    # Fierce attack - 140%
    # Berserk attack - 150% (Level 50 pets and above ONLY)
    (from http://idb.finalhit.org/beginners/aPID/5)

Also note that doing damage more than 100 percent will cause u to take increased damage based on the additional percentage done.(EG: using berserk attack will cause you to take 50 percent more damage) Therefore, stances can help or break you. If you are heading for a killing blow, use the hardest attack stance. If you are losing, take less damage by using a weaker stance. Use WISELY!

    4.Faerie Abilities
Faerie bottles can teach your pet certain abilities that can help you in the battledome, check them out in http://idb.finalhit.org/abilities. I recommend Burrow, Sink and Drain life. everything else is meh :D.

    5. Attack Types
    [IMG]

This is one of the few BD items that u will be using as a newbie, http://idb.finalhit.org/indepth/id/2587(scarab ring). As you can see, it has different types of pictures showed in the ATTACK and DEFEND panel. These are known as ICONS.

There are 7 types of icons, namely [IMG]Water, [IMG]Dark, [IMG]Physical, [IMG]Fire, [IMG]Light, [IMG]Earth and [IMG]Air. Some icons are easier to block as they are more common in nature(eg. EARTH), while some are harder(eg. AIR).

Obviously, the more icons your weapon has, the more powerful it is(more expensive TOO!). Icon variety affects its ability because it would be harder to block. Some weapons are shields , which mean that they only defend icons. In this case, Scarab ring is a DUAL Duty weapon as it attacks and defends.

There are also special icons like Heal[IMG], which heals your pet for a set amount of HP. Not to forget freeze [IMG], which disables the opponent so he can't do anything for the next turn.(freeze is very expensive to get)

    6. Training your pet
There are many ways to train your pet, head to http://idb.finalhit.org/train-pet for a detailed look.
    STRENGTH = More damage
    DEFENCE = Take less damage
LEVEL = Access to berserk attack at level 50

    7. Building a set
The most important part of Battledoming is this. Your set heavily relies on your budget(aka spending power). Before i head to that, let me list down some staples in every newbie set.

    Downsize! http://idb.finalhit.org/indepth/id/1419
Half-ing icons u take as damage for 1 turn is an insane advantage! Not to mention these are SUPER cheap.(10K-)

    Scarab ring http://idb.finalhit.org/indepth/id/2587
Hands down to the best. 2K for 12 total icons, insane power for an insane price. New BD-ers should be wielding 2 of these!

    Leaf shield http://idb.finalhit.org/indepth/id/1872
A classic shield that blocks some of the more common icons. You can get these if u want.(10K)

As you have a bigger budget, you will find yourself outgrowing these weapons for more power, I will list down some important items at certain budgets so u know what to get next time.

    500K
    http://idb.finalhit.org/indepth/id/3116 Golden compass
    http://idb.finalhit.org/indepth/id/3092 Ice club
    http://idb.finalhit.org/indepth/id/3064 Stone club

    1M
    http://idb.finalhit.org/indepth/id/3348 Ylanas Blaster
    http://idb.finalhit.org/indepth/id/1107 Honey Potion

    7M and above
    http://idb.finalhit.org/indepth/id/1107 h400 helmet(freeze weapon)
    http://idb.finalhit.org/indepth/id/1971 Ghostkerbomb
    http://idb.finalhit.org/indepth/id/3002 Ring of the lost
    http://idb.finalhit.org/indepth/id/2590 leaded elemental vial(full healer)

Alternatively, you can head to neopets-information-f82/guide-bd-set-from-100k-n-above-t19600.html for a more detailed look at weapon budgets instead of my puny insight :p

Because of updates, battledome information is something that expires quickly. Therefore, i encourage everyone to head to http://idb.finalhit.org/ for more infomation when they can.

    8.Other BD infomation
http://idb.finalhit.org/challengers PvE enemy profiles, useful to see if you can counter their weapons and stuff like that. Also good for defenders of neopia quests as they have links to get those opponents.
http://idb.finalhit.org/simulator Count damage output with this tool
http://idb.finalhit.org/topweaps/order/4/ Top weapons, useful as a quick update to which are the best weapons available currently

    9.Final words

Battledoming is probably the reason that i'm on neopets. I hope you guys have learnt something from this guide and will probably try BD for yourself. Thanks for reading and happy BDing!

Pretty good guide. Only improvement I can think is that you should mention something about the various opponents you find throughout the site. But still darn good :)
